Jen Psaki was the White House Press Secretary for Biden for a bit over the first year of the Biden presidency and so was, for a long time, known as a cheerleader for the Biden Regime and reviled for it, particularly as the Biden presidency went from bad to worse. Still, she was at least competent, and so better than the current, inept Karine Jean-Pierre.
But now she’s at MSNBC where, bizarrely, she’s free to be more honest. Though not what one might expect from MSNBC, it seems to be true, as she spent her debut appearance tamping down on Democrat expectations ahead of midterms, telling Alex Wagner of “Alex Wagner Tonight” that the Democrat strategy of boosting farther right, MAGA candidates was a risky one and that the midterm results are still up in the air.
In her words: “You really don’t know how it’s going to turn out. And that’s scary.”
Continuing, she went on to say that things aren’t looking great for Democrats, particularly in the House of Representatives, saying:
“While I think a lot of Democrats are feeling better as they should, there’s a long way to go here. If the election were tomorrow, I think the House would be a big uphill battle. That would be a bit of a leap. The Senate, more of a toss-up. But there are different dynamics that we should pay close attention to too.”
True enough, especially when viewed alongside Psaki’s late-September comment that Democrats are in for a smackdown if the election turns into a referendum on how Biden has done, saying:
“Look, I think that Democrats, if the election is about who is the most extreme, as we saw, you know, Kevin McCarthy touch on there with Marjorie Taylor Greene, I’ll say her name, sitting over his left side, then they’re going to win. If it is a referendum on the president, they will lose, and they know that.”
Explaining why Psaki is offering some not so great news to Democrats right now rather than continuing to act as a Biden regime cheerleader, Cornell Law School professor and media critic William A. Jacobson told Fox News Digital that:
“Psaki must realize that spinning her way through a session, which was her role as press secretary, no longer will fly. She has her own reputation to worry about now, so it’s not surprising she’s putting forth a realistic assessment of where things stand.”
And it looks both like that’s true and Psaki is offering a realistic assessment of what’s going on with Democrats and midterms. There might be glimmers of hope for the Democrats, particularly if MAGA voters are infuriated by the feckless RINOs in the Senate and refuse to vote for them, but things are looking pretty dismal for Democrats as gas prices tick back up and inflation continues to rage out of control.
