Recently, a South Carolina bride was killed on her wedding night when a drunk driver crashed into her golf cart. Her mother just lashed out at the alleged drunk driver, someone whose blood alcohol level was allegedly more than three times the legal limit for driving, saying, “This was not an accident.”
Samantha Miller, 34, died when the car driven by Jamie Komoroski plowed into her golf cart from the rear, throwing her from it. She died instantly. Her groom, Aric Hutchinson, 36, was seriously injured by the same crash.
The aforementioned report from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), Komoroski had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.261%, more than three times the state’s legal limit.
Samantha Miller’s mother, Lisa Miller, told Fox News Digital, “It wasn’t an accident. This person chose to drink, get behind the wheel, and plow down my daughter. This is a conscious choice that a young lady made.”
She added, “Aric and Sam are definitely soulmates. Their hearts were very much alike. They both loved incredibly.”
Then, describing what it was like when they heard sirens and realized something had happened, Lisa Miller said, “It was like a really bad movie, a really bad Netflix movie. We were running down the road toward all these lights…and we just were running and screaming Sam’s name.” She added, “Then I got the call from Sam’s dad that said, ‘Sam isn’t at the hospital. She’s still here. She got killed, and I just identified her.’”
While Samantha Miller is tragically dead, Aric survived his initial injuries and was recently released from the hospital. The New York Post, reporting on that, said:
A South Carolina groom who suffered a brain injury in a horrific crash that killed his bride after their wedding reception is now recovering at home and planning his new wife’s funeral, according to his family.
Aric Hutchinson, 36, has been released from the hospital after undergoing multiple reconstructive surgeries to repair fractured bones in his legs and face, and broken vertebrae.
“He is physically recovering at home while trying to come to terms with the loss of his beautiful wife,” wrote his mother, Annette Hutchinson, in an update on GoFundMe. “Now he is doing the unimaginable of planning Sam’s funeral along with her family.”
Newlyweds Aric and Samantha Hutchinson were riding in a golf cart with two family members following their wedding at Folley Beach, South Carolina, on April 28 when a suspected drunk driver doing 40 mph above the 25 mph speed limit rear-ended their slow-moving vehicle.
The impact sent the golf cart flying 100 yards and rolling over multiple times.
In addition to reporting on the tragic circumstances of the crash, many articles on the death of Mrs. Miller include social media photos of the drunk driver, Jamie Komoroski, drinking or otherwise showing her affinity for alcohol, the apparent cause of the deadly, deeply saddening crash.
