Senator Tim Scott just threw his hat into the 2024 ring, likely hoping (given his 1 or 2 percent approval rating)to be picked as Trump’s VP when Trump wins the nomination. As such, the left’s knives have already and quite predictably come out for him.
Specifically, Whoopi Goldberg castigated Scott for not being “black” by her definition and not toeing the preferred narrative for a black man. In her words:
“Look he’s done some good stuff. Okay. But if you are running for president, you gotta do more than that. You have to represent us as a nation and then say, and as a Black man, this is also how I feel. But you can’t pretend that it’s not there and that it’s not an issue for the people you are running for — the party you are running for. They are, in part, the problem.”
That comment from Whoopi came after Sunny Hostin, a co-host on “The View,” said, “I think one of the issues that Tim Scott has, is that he seems to think, ‘because I made it, everyone can make it.’ Ignoring again, the fact that he is the exception and not the rule. And until he is the rule — then he can stop talking about systemic racism.”

Well, Scott was having none of that. Hitting back, he tore into the co-hosts of “The View,” said: “Meekness is not weakness. I believe in the Gospel. I believe Matthew 5:44 says ‘Love your enemies’ — [but] if you break in my house, I also believe in the Second Amendment. We have to ignore the far left by disproving their lies by our actions. Here’s the funny thing: The host, Sunny, she wants to be judged by the content of her character, not the color of her skin. The fact of the matter is America is a story of evolution – a never told story of evolution in too many of our schools that are indoctrinating our kids instead of educating our kids.”
Scott finished off his rebuke of The View by saying, “no question my life disproves the lies of the radical left” and their “culture of victimhood is eating away at the soul of America.”
This is far from the first time Goldberg has gone on the attack without looking into the details. For example, following a SCOTUS decision in favor of gun rights, Whoopi lost it, saying:
“No. It’s worse that that. It’s worse than that. It’s not even stupid.”
“No. It’s so — it’s such a middle finger to New York. It’s a middle finger to New York because, you know, we have been trying to figure out how to get a handle on all that has been going on in this city in particular with gun laws, and it makes you wonder, what does this mean? Are we saying to people yes, you can come to the city and conceal your weapon, and now the police have to figure out who is carrying and who’s not and who’s legal to carry?”
