Sean Hannity, a cornerstone of conservative media, has decided against retirement in New York, opting instead for the vibrant, liberty-rich environment of Florida. The Fox News stalwart, who recently sold his Long Island estate for an impressive $12.7 million, revealed a major shift in his personal and professional life, declaring, “I am out. I am done. I am finished in New York.”
The sale of the 11,000-square-foot property not only netted Hannity a handsome 33% profit over his initial investment but also set a new record for the fastest home sale over $10 million in the area. Shawn Elliott of Nest Seekers International, the listing agent, noted that the allure of Hannity’s celebrity played a role in the transaction. “I think there was a little bit of a star factor,” Elliott remarked, adding that the buyer also acquired the estate’s high-end furniture, sealing a deal that was both lucrative and symbolic.
The features of Hannity’s former New York residence—like its par-3 golf course, private dock, and resort-style swimming pool—underscore the luxurious lifestyle he leaves behind. However, the appeal of Florida, with its promise of zero state income tax and a conservative political climate, drew Hannity to purchase a 3,800-square-foot townhome in Palm Beach for $5.3 million, boasting stunning waterfront views.
Announcing his move on his daily radio show, Hannity articulated a profound sense of relief and excitement. “We are now beginning our first broadcast from my new home, and that is in the free state of Florida,” Hannity said. He shared that the process required him to rebuild his home studio from scratch, a task he undertook willingly, driven by his enthusiasm for his new surroundings and the political climate that Florida offers.
Discussing the move, Hannity did not mince words about his reasons for leaving New York. He criticized the state’s liberal leadership under figures like Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams, contrasting them with Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis, whom he praised for fiscal conservatism and principled leadership. “And finally for the first time that I can think of in my adult life, I actually have representatives in the state that I’m living in that share my values,” Hannity said with a sense of alignment and belonging that had eluded him in New York.
Hannity’s relocation is part of a larger exodus of conservatives from blue states to red ones. He highlighted the “burdensome regulation, high crime, and horrible school districts” as deterrents driving Americans to rethink their residential choices. According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau, between 2021 and 2022, Democratic strongholds like Illinois, California, and New York each lost over 100,000 residents, a trend that continued into 2023 for California.
Meanwhile, Florida has become a magnet for nearly 1.1 million new residents from 2020 to 2023. Hannity is joined by other notable conservatives who have made Florida their home, including commentators Charlie Kirk and Ben Shapiro, as well as prominent GOP donors like Ken Griffin and Oracle’s Jeffrey Henry.
