A major farm supply company, Tractor Supply, is facing backlash from conservative circles for what they describe as the promotion of woke internal policies. The controversy has struck a chord with their predominantly conservative, rural customer base.
The criticism was sparked by Human Events editor Jack Posobiec, who targeted Tractor Supply’s CEO, Hal Lawton, accusing his human resources department of endorsing policies that are out of step with their customer base. According to Posobiec, the company promotes “LGBT training, funds pride and drag events, supports sex changes, and pushes climate activism.”
“Despite their conservative customers, they have a DEI Council, pride decorations, and LGBT events,” Posobiec highlighted in a post, directly tagging Lawton on social media platform X. Following the backlash, Lawton reportedly deleted his account.

Posobiec further cited internal documents referring to Tractor Supply’s “Partnership Playbook,” which outlines strategies for “diversity recruiting efforts that align with our DEI ESG goals set by Hal Lawton, CEO with the support of Executive Leadership.” In their diversity pledge, Tractor Supply states:

This week’s controversy surrounding Tractor Supply comes shortly after a Project Veritas video surfaced, showing a Disney vice president claiming that racial considerations were preventing promotions for white men within the company. Michael Giordano, a Disney attorney, echoed these sentiments, stating that his advancement prospects were being stifled, and noted that other biracial employees who did not meet traditional expectations of racial identity were also overlooked.
