At the Republican National Convention on Monday, a fiery exchange unfolded between Donald Trump Jr. and MSNBC reporter Jacob Soboroff, culminating in Trump Jr. instructing the reporter to exit the venue. This took place shortly after Saturday’s assassination attempt on former President Trump, who has successfully clinched the GOP nomination once again.
Jacob Soboroff challenged Trump Jr. with a question on the divisive nature of his father’s presidency. “Your father as president, I think you would even say was a divisive figure. What’s it going to look like in the second term?” he asked, microphone extended. Trump Jr. swiftly countered, “I don’t think he was a divisive figure at all.”
He added, “I think the media created divisiveness around him. They lied about Russia-Russia collusion. They said he was a traitor. They went after him in every which way is possible.” As Soboroff persisted, probing the potential perpetuation of policies like family separation, Trump Jr. criticized the questioning as biased and slammed MSNBC for spreading falsehoods.
“It’s MSDNC, so I expect nothing less from you clowns. Even today, even 48 hours later, you couldn’t wait. You couldn’t wait with your lies and with your nonsense. So just get out of here,” he exclaimed, forcefully ending the interview. Trump Jr. is set to take the stage at the RNC on Wednesday.

In a defiant move, former President Trump announced on Truth Social that despite the recent attempt on his life, he decided against altering his RNC schedule. “I cannot allow a ‘shooter,’ or potential assassin, to force change to scheduling, or anything else,” he declared.
The GOP reaffirmed their support for Trump as their presidential candidate in a roll call vote Monday afternoon. This is the third time Trump has been nominated since 2016, with plans to formally accept the nomination in a speech scheduled for Thursday evening.
Further solidifying his campaign, Trump officially announced Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his vice presidential pick. Vance, a renowned author and former Marine, is poised to help Trump reconnect with heartland and working-class voters throughout America. Trump praised Vance on Truth Social: “After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio.”
Trump detailed Vance’s credentials, “J.D. has had a very successful business career in Technology and Finance, and now, during the Campaign, will be strongly focused on the people he fought so brilliantly for, the American Workers and Farmers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and far beyond.”
“As Vice President, J.D. will continue to fight for our Constitution, stand with our Troops, and will do everything he can to help me MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Congratulations to Senator J.D. Vance, his wife, Usha, who also graduated from Yale Law School, and their three beautiful children. MAGA2024!”
Next month, the Democrats are slated to convene their convention in Chicago.
