The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office is pursuing a home invader who allegedly bit off a victim’s earlobe during a vicious attack. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Joshua Taylor, reportedly broke into the home of a 63-year-old man in the early hours of a Sunday morning earlier this month. According to investigator Chad Higgins, the assault was brutal. “In the process of the assault, he bit his left earlobe, biting off a large portion of his earlobe,” Higgins told KDFW-TV.
Authorities confirm that Taylor is likely still in Kaufman County. He currently has two warrants out for his arrest, and this isn’t his first run-in with the law. Previously, he had attacked the same victim in June, though specific details about that incident remain scarce.
Body camera footage reveals deputies responding to the scene shortly after the attack. “I need the public to tell me where we can find this individual, if they know where he’s at,” Higgins emphasized, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
Taylor is described as heavily tattooed. “He has tattoos all along one of his arms, all around his torso,” Higgins noted, pointing out a particularly striking tattoo featuring a derogatory remark towards the police. This detailed description may help those in the community identify the suspect.
Interestingly, biting off someone’s ear seems to happen more often than one might think. In a separate case from Lincoln, Nebraska, a 26-year-old man named Erick Hernandez was accused of biting off part of a man’s ear after a confrontation involving a bicycle tire pump. After the scuffle, Hernandez allegedly picked up the severed ear and placed it on a nearby trailer’s bumper. He now faces charges of first-degree assault.
Another incident occurred in Oneonta, New York, where 31-year-old Pierce Tobin reportedly bit off part of a staff member’s ear after being told he couldn’t smoke. This disturbing trend raises questions about the motivations behind such violent acts, as well as the broader implications for community safety and individual accountability.
