Rep. James Comer, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, recently appeared on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Jackie De Angelis to discuss Joe Biden’s mental fitness during his presidency. The conversation also touched on the alleged weaponization of the Justice Department in recent years. Comer has been investigating a contentious matter referred to as the Biden autopen scandal and what he claims is a cover-up regarding Biden’s health.
Comer has identified five aides to Biden who are said to be involved in this cover-up. Several of these aides have already invoked the Fifth Amendment, refusing to provide testimony about the situation. In a recent show, Comer indicated that he plans to call Biden’s spokeswoman, Karine Jean-Pierre, along with Chief of Staff Jeff Zeints and Deputy Assistant Andrew Bates, to testify about the autopen scandal. He expressed concern over the discrepancies in the testimonies from aides who once asserted Biden was fit for duty. “Key figures that day after day said that Biden was totally fit and ready to do the job now saying they really did not spend much time with him. The testimony does not add up with what we saw. Something is awry here,” De Angelis pointed out during the segment.
The autopen is a mechanism that allows for a signature to be applied to documents without the president physically signing them. Its use raises serious questions about the authenticity of actions taken during what Comer describes as Biden’s diminishing command toward the end of his presidency. “It’s becoming very apparent that Joe Biden really wasn’t the one in command at the end of his presidency,” Comer stated, emphasizing the implications this has for numerous pardons and executive orders that were signed using the autopen.
The conversation extended beyond Biden’s health to address broader concerns regarding the Justice Department. De Angelis noted that ten FBI whistleblowers have alleged that they faced retaliation from the Biden administration for speaking out against what they termed political weaponization. She indicated that this affects not only high-profile figures but ordinary citizens just trying to perform their duties. “Many lives were ruined as a result of the Biden DOJ weaponization of the previous four years,” she said.
Comer expanded on this point, indicating that many individuals within the government, particularly under the Obama and Biden administrations, seemed less focused on serving the public and more on pushing an activist agenda. He observed that, “the government is comprised of an overwhelming number of liberals and an overwhelming number of activists.” According to Comer, these activists have tried to manipulate federal agencies for their causes.
With all these allegations surfacing, Comer expressed his hope for accountability. He mentioned that he is optimistic about Pam Bondi’s ability to take the evidence collected and seek justice through her Department of Justice.
As this investigation unfolds, it raises significant questions about the integrity of Biden’s presidency and whether the public received the whole truth about his capabilities and the operations within his administration. The revelations of potential misconduct from those in positions of power have not only implications for the individuals involved but resonate with the public’s trust in government practices and transparency. The focus remains on gathering the facts and ensuring that accountability is not just an aspiration but a reality.
