Charlie Kirk’s memorial service in Glendale, Arizona, brought together a large crowd, united in their respect and remembrance of the slain activist. Dozens of speakers took the stage, relaying heartfelt tributes that painted a picture of Kirk’s impactful 31 years. They shared personal reflections, revealing the man behind the public figure and highlighting the deep influence he had within the conservative movement.
Erika Kirk, Charlie’s widow, offered intimate glimpses into their marriage. She spoke of a cherished ritual that helped sustain their relationship despite his unwavering dedication to his cause and frequent travel. “Someone once asked me how Charlie and I thought we kept our marriage so strong when he was busy traveling,” she recounted. “Our little secret: It was love notes. Every Saturday, Charlie wrote one for me, and he never missed a Saturday.” Through these notes, he expressed love and gratitude, sharing the week’s highlights and asking her how he could better serve as a husband.
Erika also reflected on Charlie’s passion for journaling and his commitment to energizing the conservative youth. “There was nothing that was too hard or too painful,” she noted. “Charlie died with incomplete work, but not with unfinished business.” Her clear love for him was evident as she said, “I will miss him. I will miss him so much. Because our marriage and our family were beautiful.”
Sergio Gor, serving as director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, shared how Charlie influenced his life through faith. “The world of politics can be full of transactional people. Charlie wasn’t one of them,” Gor said. “He was the polar opposite.” He remembered receiving daily text messages with Bible verses, which helped many start their days on a positive note. Over more than a decade of friendship, Gor and Kirk traveled to numerous locations and created lasting memories together.
“When President Trump started talking about the importance of Greenland to our national security, Charlie was one of the first people who thought it would be a great idea to visit,” Gor stated. The stories revealed a playful side to Kirk, detailing how he fell in the snow upon arrival but simply laughed it off and continued onward.
Stacy Sheridan, a senior advancement director at Turning Point, shared moving stories about Kirk’s compassion. She spoke of how he helped her husband while battling cancer, calling and checking in regularly. “Charlie called me consistently to ask how he could help us,” she recalled, illustrating his selfless nature. This kindness extended even further, as Kirk arranged critical medication and equipment for her without her knowing. “I still to this day have no idea how he made that happen. But that was Charlie. He did the right thing,” she said.
In moments of vulnerability, Sheridan described how Kirk would console her during tough times. After losing her home in a fire, she remembered his immediate and incensed response: “This is a sign you and Grace belong in Arizona.” His support was unwavering as he welcomed her family into his own.
Andrew Kolvet, a spokesman for Turning Point USA, shared insights into Kirk’s love for podcasting. “It was his one constant amid never-ending change,” Kolvet noted, emphasizing Kirk’s commitment to connecting with his audience. “He read every single email you all sent to him,” he said, highlighting Kirk’s dedication to his supporters and the importance he placed on their thoughts and feedback.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna spoke of her journey because of Kirk’s inspiration. “There would be no Congresswoman Luna without Charlie Kirk,” she declared. Recalling a pivotal phone call, she shared, “‘Hey, Anna, it’s Charlie. I’d like to offer you a job as Texas National Hispanic Outreach director.’” Kirk believed strongly in the capacity of the youth to bring meaningful change, igniting Luna’s own passion for action.
Finally, Frank Turek, a mentor to Kirk, recounted the tragic moments surrounding Kirk’s assassination. He shared the urgency that filled the air as he rushed him to the hospital, a desperate attempt to save a life. “I was doing a lot of yelling,” Turek mentioned, recalling the chaos of that day. He poignantly described looking into Kirk’s eyes, sensing a deep shift as the life slipped away. “His face was looking at mine, but he wasn’t looking at me. He was looking past me right into eternity,” said Turek, providing a glimpse into the profound grief and raw emotions felt in that moment.
Kirk’s memorial service resonated with love and loss, showcasing the impact he had not just as a public figure but also as a devoted husband, friend, and mentor. His legacy will continue to inspire many, reminding them of the importance of kindness, faith, and commitment to a cause, no matter how turbulent the journey may be.
