Svetlana Lokhova, a historian entangled in the Russiagate controversy, is now drawing attention to John Bolton’s alleged misconduct amidst mounting indictments. Her X posts present a detailed narrative that implicates Bolton in a web of intrigue involving the CIA and FBI.

Lokhova claims that both agencies orchestrated operations against then-candidate Donald Trump from the United Kingdom, leveraging key figures like Stefan Halper and Christopher Steele. The former National Security Advisor’s connections to these individuals are critical to the argument. According to Lokhova, Bolton knew Halper personally, and his aide, Fiona Hill, had a close relationship with Steele. This relationship raises serious questions about Bolton’s role in the narrative crafted to undermine Trump’s campaign.

In 2016, Lokhova asserts that agents fabricated a story suggesting she had an affair with General Michael Flynn, branding her as a Russian spy. This fabrication allegedly fueled investigations into the Trump campaign, which eventually led to the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Lokhova reveals that in 2018, President Trump sought to declassify documents related to this narrative, but Bolton, along with Gina Haspel and others, reportedly obstructed this effort. They argued that releasing such documents could jeopardize relationships with allies in Britain—a claim Lokhova contests, suggesting that the true motive was to protect a larger agenda within what she terms the Deep State.

Furthermore, as Trump’s term drew to a close in December 2020, he finally declassified certain intelligence documents that outlined the alleged conspiracies against him. However, these documents faced retroactive reclassification in May 2022 by the Biden administration, which Lokhova argues is composed of officials loyal to the earlier regime.

Lokhova does not shy away from directly criticizing Bolton. She indicates that Bolton’s statements on television about the sensitivity of the documents are hypocritical. He has called for severe consequences against Trump for supposedly mishandling classified materials while ignoring his own role in suppressing critical information about how these intelligence operations were conducted.

The situation is evolving, and it seems Lokhova foresees tightening pressure on Bolton. In her view, he has significant personal stakes in cooperating with authorities, suggesting that both his family and future may hang in the balance as investigations continue. The question remains: will Bolton decide to turn whistleblower in an effort to mitigate the legal consequences for himself and his family?

As of now, it appears Lokhova is documenting a turning point, with Bolton standing at a crossroads. The implications of his choices could reverberate through a complex political landscape that has only grown more contentious. Whether he chooses loyalty to former colleagues or self-preservation could define his legacy in the ongoing aftermath of the Russiagate saga.
