Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), the newly appointed Chairman of the January 6 Select Subcommittee, is raising serious concerns about the narrative surrounding the January 6 pipe bomber. In an interview with GP reporter Cara Castronuova, Loudermilk claimed crucial evidence linked to the case has been “mysteriously disappeared” or “corrupted.” This alarming assertion casts a long shadow over the actions of the FBI and the Select Committee formed by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Loudermilk questioned the credibility of the established timeline, saying, “The story that we were fed all this time doesn’t hold a lot of water.” His skepticism is echoed by evidence he cites, including a claim that Secret Service bomb-sniffing dogs failed to detect any explosives at the DNC on January 6, raising the question of whether these devices were indeed planted as indicated by the FBI.

The investigation into the pipe bombs has revealed inconsistencies that cast doubt on the official narrative. For instance, the devices were said by the FBI to have been planted the night before the Capitol events, yet a witness living near the RNC contradicted this timeline. Loudermilk asserts, “Either it was inert… or it wasn’t there,” pushing for clarity on the placement of the bombs. The implications of this discrepancy are significant, prompting further investigation into possible motives for the varying accounts.

An especially perplexing detail is the status of the timer attached to one of the bombs. Loudermilk pointed out that the egg timer showed about 20 minutes left before detonation when discovered, which contradicts the FBI’s timeline of when the bomb was planted. He questions why anyone would plant a bomb the night before and then need to return to set the timer. He stated emphatically, “None of this makes logical sense.”

The issue of video evidence also looms large. Loudermilk noted that when the FBI arrived to investigate, they requested security footage from the RNC and DNC. Much of that footage, however, is reportedly gone. “None of those videotapes exist, except for some small snippets that they used in their TV production hearings,” he said, implying that critical evidence has been lost or destroyed intentionally.

The subcommittee chairman also highlighted the difficulties surrounding vital phone data that could potentially identify the pipe bomber. He explained that AT&T’s data from the bomb sites was reportedly “corrupted” just before preservation efforts were made. “That didn’t pass the smell test to me because you do backups upon backups of data,” Loudermilk stated, reinforcing a perception of negligence or possible cover-up.

Another intriguing detail comes from the testimony about the individual who found the pipe bomb. This person, Karlin Younger, had worked for FirstNet, a federal agency linked to AT&T. Castronuova reacted with incredulity to this connection, calling it “a bit of a coincidence.” Such links raise further questions about the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the bombs.

Furthermore, Loudermilk pointed to former Speaker Pelosi’s actions in the days leading up to January 6. He recounted that President Trump had ordered the National Guard to be on standby, but requests from Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund were denied until violence erupted. Loudermilk remarked, “Donald Trump ordered the National Guard to be ready to be deployed on January 6th,” questioning the decision-making process that led to such a delay.

A sentiment echoed throughout the interview is that the original investigation led by Pelosi’s Committee lacked transparency. Loudermilk charged that evidence was buried and records destroyed to serve a political agenda, thus undermining the integrity of the investigation. He noted that the integrity of the entire process has come into question, emphasizing that what was intended as an inquiry has instead turned into a tool for political maneuvering.

In closing, Loudermilk’s revelations create an urgent need for clarity regarding the events of January 6. He encapsulated the prevalent sentiment, “This was a cover-up — not an investigation,” pushing for accountability and a closer look at the discrepancies surrounding this pivotal moment in American history. The demand for transparency and truth continues as citizens look for answers, aiming to demystify the events of that day.
