Americans might have thought they did away with segregation during the Civil Rights Era, but now it’s coming back with a vengeance. And, this time the land of Dixie isn’t to blame: radical, vaxx-crazed leftists are.
In Boston, for example, Mayor Michelle Wu just banned the unvaccinated from indoor venues.
That’s right, tax-paying citizens are being discriminated against by their government on the basis of their vaccination status, with those that haven’t taken the jab being kept out of places like gyms, bars, theaters, and sports arenas.
Here’s what the Boston Herald report Wu said in her statement on the tyrannical diktat, what new restrictions have been put in place, and how protesters responded:
“Vaccination is the most powerful tool we have to fight this pandemic,” said Wu Monday, announcing the city’s new rules as protesters flowed inside shouting “USA, USA!”
In addition, all city workers will be required to get the vaccine if they want to keep their jobs, Wu said. Workers must have at least one dose by Jan. 15 and two doses by Feb. 15. The new, stricter requirement for city workers eliminates an option for weekly testing in lieu of getting the shot. Roughly 90% of the city’s 18,000 employees are in compliance with the current vaccine mandate, Wu said.
Patrons at the “select” indoor spaces where proof of vaccine will be required for entry will be on the same timeline, Wu said. Children must be vaccinated to enter those same spaces starting in March
With only 90% of the city’s employees being vaccinated, that means a large chunk of the workforce could be fired in the coming weeks.
However, the city’s employees have vowed to fight the mandate. Breitbart reports that:
Boston First Responders United, which represents EMTs, firefighters, and police said they will fight the mandates in court. Likewise, the National Federation for Independent Businesses said in a statement that businesses are already struggling enough and should be forced to do the government’s job.
Yet worse, the city government is now forcing not only adults, but also kids, to get the jab just to work out, watch a game, or have a drink.
While it’s not as clear how legal challenges to that aspect of her diktat will go, Christopher Carlozzi, State Director for NFIB in Massachusetts, said:
“It is unfortunate that, once again, private businesses are being placed in the unenviable position of having to enforce another government health directive. Even though small business owners are currently struggling to fully staff their restaurants and venues, they will now be responsible for enforcing the city’s newest public health mandate, too.”
So, it looks like segregation is rearing its ugly head once again, this time on the pretext of public health.
