As bicycle and pedestrian fatalities linked to illegal truckers have surged, Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) launched Operation Highway Sentinel to address a pressing concern. CBP’s press release from December 19 detailed the operation’s impact. Over the course of several weeks, agents arrested 49 illegal aliens possessing commercial driver’s licenses during routine immigration checkpoints and interagency operations. Particularly alarming is that between November 23 and December 12 alone, agents apprehended 42 illegal aliens operating semitrucks on major highways.
