These officials have made it clear that Congress is closely monitoring the situation. “As the world turns toward a new year, the People’s Liberation Army’s live-fire military exercises around Taiwan represent a deliberate escalation by Beijing,” said Rep. John Moolenaar, R-Mich., who chairs the committee, alongside ranking member Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill. This joint statement highlights rising concerns as China intensifies its military presence in the region.
China has launched a two-day show of strength, conducting military drills that include firing rockets into waters surrounding Taiwan.
