In today’s version of “what the heck are they thinking” news, a United States Olympic athlete had publicly announced their plan to destroy an American Flag on the podium if they won their event, per Fox News.
It was Chelsea Wolfe, a BMX Freestyle rider, who qualified as an alternate to compete for America in the Tokyo summer Olympics who said they wanted to burn an American flag right there on the podium if they won.
This statement was made sometime last year and has since been deleted, but the Internet doesn’t forget and neither do Americans when someone makes an anti-American statement like that.
The statement was captured in a screenshot and posted by Fox News:
Wolfe stated in their post: “My goal is to win the Olympics so I can burn a US flag on the podium. This is what they focus on during a pandemic. Hurting trans children.”
The relevance to trans children is because Wolfe identifies as a trans woman.
Fox News reached out to Chelsea Wolfe to get a statement about the now deleted ANTI-AMERICAN post:
“Anyone who thinks that I don’t care about the United States is sorely mistaken,” Wolfe told Fox News. “One of the reasons why I work so hard to represent the United States in international competition is to show the world that this country has morals and values, that it’s not all of the bad things that we’re known for. I take a stand against fascism because I care about this country and I’m not going to let it fall into the hands of fascists after so many people have fought and sacrificed to prevent fascism from taking hold abroad. As a citizen who wants to be proud of my home country, I’m sure as hell not going to let it take hold here.”
Commentary:
Imagine finally making it on an Olympic team to represent your country and all you want to do is burn the American Flag. There is nothing American about that and nothing for any of us to be proud of if Chelsea Wolfe wins and does that.
It would be a national embarrassment for someone to represent America and do something so despicable and disgusting and repulsive to our beautiful flag.
If it wasn’t for America, Chelsea Wolfe wouldn’t have the chance to compete at the world level.
Without talking about the trans issue (that’s a whole other story) – this is America and when we represent our country, we are supposed to do it with pride.
Chelsea Wolfe needs to remember how lucky they are to be representing America, because anyone born here or living here is lucky to be in the country so many other people are flocking to at high numbers.
Just think, Chelsea Wolfe – if America wasn’t so great, then we wouldn’t have so many immigrants rushing Joe Biden’s border while Kamala Harris does nothing about it.
People are coming IN because America is great – so maybe Chelsea Wolfe should get their act together and remember how lucky they are.
I always root for Americans in the Olympics, and even though this is just BMX bike riding and I’ve got zero interest in the sport – I’ll still root for America, because I’m not an anti-American like Chelsea Wolfe.
