Now THIS is America!
Attendees at a board meeting recited the Pledge of Allegiance in the Mayor’s face after he demanded that the pledge be suspended, reported Breitbart.
But the America-loving patriots at this small town meeting weren’t having it and stood up for their country in complete defiance of Mayor Shane Fuhrman’s demands to essentially ban the Pledge of Allegiance.
Even better, it was all caught on video in Colorado and made waves on social media this week, grasping the attention of millions as they scolded the mayor on social media.
Mayor Fuhrman made the unilateral decision on his own, not allowing the Pledge of Allegiance during any further board meetings. That upset many attendees of the next meeting as they taught him a lesson in loving your country.
Fuhrman’s town only has about 550 people living there, so word probably traveled quickly after he was met with defiance.
But why would anyone ban the Pledge of Allegiance at a board meeting in such a small town?
Well, this is the excuse they came up with:
Speaking at the committee meeting, Fuhrman said: “Due to the direct and indirect threats, inappropriate comments in and out of our public meetings, and general divisiveness and issues created in our community, we will not be reciting the Pledge of Allegiance during Town of Silverton trustee meetings.”
Fuhrman did not elaborate on the nature of the threats or comments that prompted him to remove the pledge, which he added would be removed from agendas and protocols “until such time that we could discuss this at a board retreat or workshop.”
However, shortly after, during the meeting’s comment period, one woman stated: “I would like to make one comment. I would like to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.”
This is when the video gets good and the people stand up for their flag and country.
Fuhrman was furious and stated: “I’d note that that’s out of order. We did have a one-strike policy. I’m not going to ask everyone to leave tonight, but if something like that happens again we will.”
To that note, people likely laughed in his face as well – as did many on social media who ransacked his existence by shaming him like he’s a bad dog who went potty on the carpet after you just paid for expensive training lessons and dog treats. Then again, there’s nothing a good lesson and dog treats can’t fix – maybe this mayor just needs to have some dog treats to get his mind out of the unpatriotic gutter for once.
Rep. Lauren Boebert was very vocal about it. The Republican Rep. said: “Silverton, CO’s Mayor unilaterally banned the Pledge of Allegiance at city meetings. It’s hard to put into words what kind of anti-American disgrace this is. Mayor Fuhrman should resign and purchase a one-way ticket to China where he won’t have worry about hearing the pledge!”
Maybe next time Fuhrman won’t be so anti-American with his decisions.
