That gut wrenching decision by the Biden Justice Department to drop a federal civil rights probe undoubtedly poured additional salt on an already gaping wound. Not investigating the deaths of thousands of elderly nursing home residents is an injury that for many New Yorker’s will never heal.
On Friday Deputy Assistant Attorney General Joe Gaeta wrote; “We have reviewed the information provided by these states along with additional information available to the Department. Based on that review, we have decided not to open a CRIPA investigation of any public nursing facility within New York, Pennsylvania, or Michigan at this time.”
Most grief-stricken family members of those tragically killed, had already surmised that Biden’s Justice Department would not investigate one of their own, especially a proponent Democratic governor within an ultra-progressive state.
Cuomo had in fact already neutralized many of those groups attempting to seek accountability for his egregious actions, which resulted in the deaths of nearly 13,000 elderly nursing home patents.
The governor, an astute self-aggrandizing and arrogant politician, simply refused to resign, despite mounting and indisputable evidence that he forced elderly infected nursing home patents back into their nursing homes where the virus simply spread like wildfire, killing thousands more within the vulnerable population.
Moreover, when the deaths finally became public, he simply fabricated the actual number of deaths, reducing the total count by almost 40%.
On Monday a defiant Cuomo responded to the DOJ’s controversial move in dropping its investigation.
Appearing before a hastily called news conference at Yankee Stadium, Cuomo seized the opportunity to once again absolve himself of any wrong-doing.

“It was an outrageous allegation,” Cuomo claimed.
“It was toxic politics. It violated the basic concept of justice in this nation. And it did a lot of harm and a lot of damage and then went on too long. I mean, this went on for like a year, until finally the Department of Justice dismissed it.”
Adding; “I am telling you as I sit here, I have told you the facts on COVID from day one.”
The 63-year old governor attempted to once again spin-the-facts by claiming under his watch the states death toll due to COVID-19 was actually lower compared to the data compiled by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“CDC asks for actual deaths and presumed deaths of COVID,” Cuomo said.
“What does that mean, ‘presumed death?’ That means the nursing home operator or the hospital operator wasn’t really sure…Our number is actual death.”
Cuomo continued; “I’m very eager to get the facts to the people of this state and I think when they hear the actual facts of what happened, and how the situation has been handled, I think they’re going to be shocked.”
“Shocked, because at the end of the day, the truth wins and facts win.”
Those comments by the third term governor are perhaps a prelude to what lies ahead, in that Cuomo still faces a potentially serious probe by the FBI and another by the Brooklyn US Attorney’s Office, in which Cuomo’s top administration aids have already admitted they covered up the actual number of nursing home deaths. That revelation can only spell trouble for the governor, if it can be proven that he personally instructed his staff to fudge the numbers.

Upon hearing the news on Friday Haydee Pabey who lost her mother due to Cuomo’s nursing home decree, took to social media to convey her thoughts; “My heart is broken all over again.”
“The Justice Department turned its back on seniors who died. The Justice Department covered up the cover-up,” Pabey said.
