Democratic “Squad” members consisting of Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib are thus far eerily silent concerning the “pro-democratic protests” currently taking place in communist-held Cuba.
The peaceful uprising began in earnest over the weekend as thousands of pro-American Cubans took to the streets demanding an end to the communist regime, which has held the tiny island in its grip for over 6 decades. Meanwhile prominent self described “Socialist/Democrats” comprising of the “Squad” are nowhere to be seen on social media, thus far.
The Biden State Department during the initial peaceful demonstrations attempted to also echo the same communist line as the Cuban government suggesting that the protests where somehow due to a rise in COVID-19 infections, along with the crippling sanctions imposed by America. The State-Department also attempted to legitimize the Cuban government by suggesting that the right to peaceful assembly by the people is observed in Cuba.
That absurd comment was quickly challenged by Republican Senator Ted Cruz on Monday. “How is this possible??” Cruz the son of Cuban immigrants tweeted. “The Biden State Dept told us that the Cuban communist dictatorship protects their “right to peaceful assembly?”

Yet, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris can't seem to figure out why freedom in Cuba is important and why people are standing up and risking their lives. pic.twitter.com/rE20kwEcC9
The Texas Senator was referring to a statement posted on line by State Department officials on Sunday that read in part, “Peaceful protests are growing in #Cuba as the Cuban people exercise their right to peaceful assembly.”
While in actually the communist regime was violently cracking down on protesters sending hundreds of secret police all across the tiny island, just 90 miles away from America’s shore and freedom.
Bidens State Department did not respond to Fox’s request for comments regarding their bizarre tweet, however Biden did attempt to clean up the mess in a half-hearted statement, “We stand with the Cuban people and their clarion call for freedom and relief from the tragic grip of the pandemic and from the and from the decades of repression and economic suffering to which they have been subjected by Cuba’s authoritarian regime.”
However the president’s attempt to “thread-the-needle” by avoiding any reference to socialism did not go unnoticed. Republican Senator Marco Rubio called out Biden on Sunday for not speaking forcefully enough about the protests in Cuba.
“The people of #Cuba bravely take to the streets against 62 years of socialist tyranny,” he tweeted.
The Biden administration and Democrats want to make Cuba’s protests about COVID-19.

The obvious reality is the Cuban people are protesting a different disease: the disease of socialism.
Mark Meadows also tweeted: “The Biden administration and Democrats want to make Cuba’s protests about COVID-19. The obvious reality is the Cuban people are protesting a different disease: the disease of socialism.”
The Wall Street Journal reported that the communist regime has cut off much of the countries communication system to the outside world, along with President Miguel Diaz-Canel’s secret police arresting more than 100 pro-democracy activists, many of whom have disappeared, their whereabouts unknown.
Within the coming days Biden will most likely be tested by the Socialist wing of his party to perhaps lift the sanctions imposed by then President Trump against Cuba. Lest we forget Bernie Sanders, a defender of Fidel Castro, and a presidential contender in 2020 last year praised the ruthless dictator.

Speaking to CBS News’ “60 Minutes,” the self-proclaimed Democratic/Socialist described the communist dictator as someone who favors literacy, “We’re very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba but you know, it’s unfair to simply say everything is bad. You know? When Fidel Castro came into office, you know what he did? He had a massive literacy program. Is that a bad thing, even though Fidel Castro did it?”
One thing is certain, the silence is deafening when it comes to the young socialists who are unofficially leading the Democratic Party. With the speed at which they seem to jump on human rights abuses they couldn’t care less about the citizens of Cuba. It begs the question, who exactly are they “allies” and “comrades” with?
