Low bail DA responsible for Waukesha Christmas parade carnage

The carnage that took place over the weekend by a career criminal, who willfully plowed his SUV into a crowd of people celebrating the upcoming Christmas season, killing 5 innocent people and injuring over 40, (several in critical condition), should never have been free, walking the streets of Waukesha, let alone behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Darrell Brooks, 39, has a rap sheet dating back to 1999, yet “progressive reformer” Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm, decided to free Brooks.  Brooks was accused of running over his estranged girlfriend last month and was out on bond a mere 48 hours before he, once again, ran over dozens of people marching in the annual Christmas parade.

Chisholm, an outspoken advocate of bail reform set bail for the repeat offender at $1,000 assuring that Brooks would be out within a matter of hours.

The self aggrandized cash-bail reformer has argued in the past that locking up career thugs like Brooks somehow “criminalizes poverty.” Chisholm also describes himself on his website as a “bold reformer with a track record of keeping our community safe.”

That was until Sunday when Brooks went on a willful crime spree, mowing down both elderly and children alike, ironically using his vehicle as a killing machine in the same manner that got him arrested last month.

This brings us back to this “BOLD REFORMER” responsible of putting this parasite back onto the streets of Waukesha.

In an interview in 2007 with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Chisholm said; “Is there going to be an individual I divert, or I put into treatment program, who’s going to go out and kill somebody?”

You bet. Guaranteed. It’s guaranteed to happen. It does not invalidate the overall approach.”

In short, what DA Chisholm is alluding to, is that those innocent people murdered and maimed on Sunday by Darrell Brooks, are simply collateral damage in his quest for reducing the prison population in Milwaukee County.

A comforting thought, no doubt, to the loved ones who lost family members or sitting vigil in a hospital room hoping that their loved ones will survive.

Chisholm has come under fire after admitting on Monday that Darrell Brooks had been released on an inappropriately low bond following his arrest earlier this month. The DA is now vowing to investigate how his office allowed Brooks to post a $1,000 bond after being accused of running his girlfriend and his child over with his vehicle in a Milwaukee gas station parking lot on November 2.

The progressive Democrat is now attempting to spin his way out of the mounting firestorm by issuing what amounts to a self-serving statement; “The state’s bail recommendation in this case was inappropriately low in light of the nature of the recent charges and the pending charges against Mr. Brooks.”

Adding; “The bail recommendation in this case is not consistent with the approach of the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office toward matters involving violent crime, nor was it consistent with the risk assessment of the defendant prior to setting of bail.”

This office is currently conducting an internal review of the decision to make the recent bail recommendation in this matter in order to determine the appropriate next steps.”

The appropriate next step would be for District Attorney John Chisholm to resign in disgrace, however, he won’t. This leaves the citizens of Milwaukee County with just two choices; vote Chisholm out in the next election or start a recall effort and force him out.
