How is this possible in America 2021?
According to court documents, a 39-year-old with a long rap sheet, including violent crimes, was recently released from jail and has been was charged for the ‘mass casualty incident’ that took place Sunday in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Darrell Edward Brooks Jr. has been arrested as a suspect after his red Ford Escape plowed into a holiday parade. So far, five have been confirmed dead, more than 40 injured.
One question on everyone’s mind is why this violent felon was even out of jail.
Brooks is a career criminal with multiple priors and was released from jail two days prior to the incident after posting a $1,000 bail for three misdemeanors and two felonies.
He has a history of resisting arrest, obstruction, battery, statutory sexual seduction, strangulation and suffocation, property destruction, illegal firearm possession, bail jumping, domestic violence, drug-related charges and is a registered sex offender.

As the investigations into Brook’s actions dominated the national discussion, the Milwaukee County District Attorneys’ office made a shocking and inexcusable admission that Brooks should have not have been released for the low bond amount of $1,000.

“The State’s bail recommendation, in this case, was inappropriately low in light of the recent changes and pending charges against Mr. Brooks.”
“The bail recommendation, in this case, is not consistent with the approach of the Milwaukee County district attorney’s office.”
This statement appears to contradict what Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisolm said earlier in the day that the $1,000 bond amount sounds very consistent with his approach. Chisolm is said to have, quote, “a track record of releasing prolific offenders, as well as not filing charges against them.”
“The office is currently conducting an internal review of the decision to make the recent bail recommendation in this manner in order to determine the appropriate next steps.”
Well as loved ones mourn over the death of five adults, and countless others are praying that their family members, including children, recover from their extreme injuries, a calloused DA in Milwaukee, is starting an internal review on how they let this monster back into the public they are supposed to protect.
