Even before the COVID Delta variant infection rate began to decline, the mainstream media had started building the fear factor for a new strain, only showing minimal symptoms, the Omicron variant in South Africa gained international attention.
In the past month, Omicron has shown to be very contagious, averaging 586,265 daily cases in the U.S. over the past 7 days.
This spike has led progressive governed states, like New York, to re-instate their draconian COVID measures including vaccine passports and schools returning to in-home learning.
This has led millions of Americans who want to go back to normal living again, to turn to experts for information of when the Omicron wave might finally peak.
Former FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb told CNBC’s Squawk Box program that the peak of Omicron will be in the next couple of weeks for the most populated areas of the US.
“I think we’re going to be through this certainly by mid-February. That’s going to become more apparent as we get into next week,” says @ScottGottliebMD on #omicron wave in the United States. pic.twitter.com/vD2iUQ1sQW

“I think you’re already seeing the signs of a top in terms of cases in New York and Florida. As difficult as the situation is in those states, I think you’re going to see new cases start to slow and will come down the other side of the epidemic curve, certainly by next week.”
It’s going to work through other parts of the country more slowly, as there are many parts of the country where Omicron hasn’t arrived yet. But certainly, in the large metropolitan regions, I think you’re going to see a peak get put in the next couple of weeks.”
Gottlieb predicts that the decline of Omicron will pan out by mid-February. The basis of this comes from what data shows for this pandemic wave in places like the United Kingdom and South Africa.
The World Health Organization (WHO) officially recognized the Omicron COVID variant after South African officials first brought it to their attention in late November 2021. It was shortly after that when Dr. Fauci told the public that while the variant is less severe, it seemed to be faster in its rate of infectiousness.
These qualities of this COVID variant are reflected in places like Florida where as many as half of the state’s hospital COVID admissions had first arrived for non-COVID regions. Over in New York, Governor Kathy Hochul on Monday announced the state would begin recording hospital arrivals with a similar distinction.
In typical fashion, the WHO who has already been wrong many times during the COVID pandemic urged the international community on Thursday against labeling the Omicron variant as “mild.”
As the U.S completed the first week of 2022, thousand of schools have now closed, moving to online classes. The Chicago teachers union has been causing havoc for the parents and students by their teachers not showing in order to force the students to stay at home, against the direct order from the mayor who wants in-person teaching to continue.
It’s time for America to stop living in fear, and go back to productive lives in the greatest nation on Earth.
As with the flu and other viruses, each person should make their own health decions. If needed stay at home or wear masks if they like, but the healthy should not have to lose their liberties in the meantime.
