Biden’s SS? Justice Dept. Creating New Unit To Focus On “Domestic Terrorism”

The level of hypocrisy at the federal level is hitting record levels which need to be addressed.

The Biden administration’s policies have encouraged millions of unknown foreign nationals to pour into the U.S.A. without COVID testing or vetting, supported ANTIFA and BLM as their riots caused over a billion dollars in damage while injuring thousands of police officers, without charging them as domestic terrorists.

BUT, following the riot at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021, those who are advancing an anti-Trump sentiment and hatred of those who love America, are moving forward with setting up a new domestic terrorism group to go after them, but not ANTIFA or BLM.

Citing ‘elevated threat from domestic violent extremists,’ DOJ official announces creation of new domestic terrorism unit ‘to augment our existing approach.’

Assistant Attorney General Matthew Olsen, testifying just days after the nation observed the one-year anniversary of the violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, said the number of FBI investigations into suspected domestic violent extremists has more than doubled since the spring of 2020.

“We have seen a growing threat from those who are motivated by racial animus, as well as those who ascribe to extremist anti-government and anti-authority ideologies,” Olsen said.

The department’s National Security Division, which Olsen leads, has a counterterrorism section. But Olsen told the Senate Judiciary Committee that he has decided to create a specialized domestic terrorism unit “to augment our existing approach.”

The department’s National Security Division, which Olsen leads, has a counterterrorism section. But Olsen told the Senate Judiciary Committee that he has decided to create a specialized domestic terrorism unit “to augment our existing approach” and to “ensure that these cases are properly handled and effectively coordinated” across the country.

The formulation of a new unit underscores the extent to which domestic violence extremism, which for years after the Sept. 11 attacks was overshadowed by the threat of international terrorism, has attracted urgent attention inside the federal government.

But the issue remains politically freighted, in part because the absence of a federal domestic terrorism statute has created ambiguities as to precisely what sort of violence meets that definition.

Several Republican senators are suggesting that the FBI and the Justice Department had given more attention to the Jan. 6 insurrection than to the 2020 rioting that erupted in American cities and grew out of racial justice protests.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas accused the department of “wildly disparate” treatment. Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, the Senate’s top Republican, played video clips of the 2020 violence as a counter to the video of the Jan. 6 Capitol rioting played by Democratic Sen. Richard Durbin, the committee’s chairman.

The officials said the department treats domestic extremist violence the same regardless of ideology.

Anti-Terrorism Unit Directive

On September 17, 2001, the US Attorney General directed that the United States Attorney’s Office in each district establish an Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council (ATAC).  The current function of each ATAC is to enhance training and information sharing among the district’s federal, state and local law enforcement, as well as other first responders and private parties, in matters related to terrorism.

The primary objectives of the JTTF are: 1) the prevention and disruption of terrorist activity by implementing the full range of resources available to investigate terrorist incidents; and 2) the vigorous prosecution of those who have committed, or intend to commit, terrorist acts in the United States.
