As if it weren’t bad enough for Pelosi that the far-left tack of the Democrats under Biden’s “leadership” has reinvigorated what might have been a deflated conservative movement post-2020, now internal Democrat polling is showing that Democrats are struggling with even swing voters, many of whom are ditching them as conditions get worse and worse under Biden and the left gets crazier and crazier.
As SFGate reported, internal DCCC polling has found that the majority of voters in many districts, particularly the formerly competitive ones that Democrats are focusing upon in a desperate attempt to stave off a 2022 red wave.
In those districts, voters are fed up with what Joe Biden’s policy and Democrat “governance” have done to America and are, as a result, getting quite negative about him and his policies.
For example, the internal polling found that 66% of the “swing” voters in competitive districts agree with the statement that “Democrats in Congress have taken things too far in their pandemic response.”
Similarly, the poll found that a whopping 80% of swing voters think that “Democrats in Congress support defunding the police and taking more cops off of the street.” Despite nasty Nancy’s protestations that Democrats are all in behind the police, voters can see through that lie and aren’t happy about the anarchy unleashed upon their streets by the left.
Then there’s the border that Biden broke wide open, another albatross around Pelosi’s neck as she attempts to keep Congress blue. On that issue, 78 percent of swing voters in the competitive districts think that “Democrats in Congress have created a border crisis that allows illegal immigrants to enter the country without repercussions and grants them tax-payer funded benefits once here.”
Almost as bad for Pelosi and her party is that 61 percent of swing voters in those competitive districts think both that “Democrats in Congress are spending money out of control” and that “Democrats are teaching kids as young as five Critical Race Theory, which teaches that America is a racist country and that white people are racist.”
A similarly sizable 59% hold the related opinion that “Democrats are too focused on pursuing an agenda that divides us and judging those who don’t see things their way.”
All that is bad news for Pelosi, as it shows two things that’ll give her a headache.
The first is that Politico wasn’t wrong when it reported that:
Democrats’ own research shows that some battleground voters think the party is “preachy,” “judgmental” and “focused on culture wars,” according to documents obtained by POLITICO.
And the party’s House campaign arm had a stark warning for Democrats: Unless they more forcefully confront the GOP’s “alarmingly potent” culture war attacks, from critical race theory to defunding the police, they risk losing significant ground to Republicans in the midterms.
If that’s true, as the SFGate article makes it appear, then Democrats are in for major trouble, as their stance on every culture war issue is already well known and will be hard to escape from, making their reelection challenge all the worse.
Then there’s the fact that such a large chunk of voters seem to believe it. If the public was split somewhere close to 50-50, perhaps Pelosi could pull a rabbit out of her hat. But it’s not; on some of the most prominent issues, Democrats are about 30 points underwater.
That’s bad news for Democrats; so long as the GOP doesn’t blow it, 2022 is looking more and more like a red wave year.
