Picture this: You’ve dealt with years of hard work, agreed to overtime, ate takeout often because life is always too busy, and never slows down. After all those hours of working, all those late nights, double shifts, and early mornings with no coffee – you finally did it. That’s right, you’ve been saving for this moment, and by golly, you know it’s well deserved. I’m talking about a vacation to Iceland!
You’ll finally be able to relax, and not have to hear another co-worker’s gossip. You leave all the drama behind and begin to take in those beautiful views you only see on documentaries. You’re enjoying yourself when all of a sudden you hear a ding! You pull out your phone to see who it is – and behold! It’s your work email!
Well lucky for you, Iceland has raced a new service to deal with that very scenario.
This service is a world-first and called ‘OutHorse Your Email’. It’s a service that’s intended to urge travelers to indulge in the trip to the country and disconnect, similar to an officer’s command ‘put-the-phone-down.’
Utilizing an over-sized keyboard mat, the gaited horses can walk, run, lope, trot, and pace their way across the keys. Obviously, the outcome is gibberish answers to corporate contacts, with examples listed as “þþnjifai=’.,,lmbmbnbbhgycdrgzw/’pfæ ndaiFVxhðut7r7r7djsmfdsm” and “þnjifai’/.p,oii9unnbhvggyvgjhbjm,kfæ,.iklp–jpomohu o/’k;,i,mumnf.”
A new global study by Visit Iceland tracked down that two fifths 41% of individuals universally browse their work messages somewhere in the range of one and four times each and every day while on vacation, while one out of ten or 14% survey them 5-6 times consistently.
“When visitors travel to Iceland we want them to fully experience everything our nation has to offer, from breathtaking surroundings to endless landscapes and friendly faces,” Sigríður Dögg Guðmundsdóttir, Head of Visit Iceland said. Our OutHorse Your Email service lets them do just that, taking away the pressure of feeling as if they have to be always on and instead allowing them to be present throughout their trip. With our world-first service we hope to encourage people to disconnect and take a well-deserved, uninterrupted break”.
“Our talented horses took naturally to the OutHorse Your Email service, tölting and galloping their way across the fields and creating a range of unique emails that will help holidaymakers enjoy their trip without any interruptions,” Jelena Ohm, Project Manager of Horses of Iceland said. “From curiosity, intelligence and independence, our horses are special for many reasons, and so now we can add email responders too.”
Because of the pandemic, throughout the course of recent years numerous workers have gotten used to the idea of remote working, finding that the lines between their individual lives and work has become obscured.
A poll done by Insider done in 2019 also showed that over 66% of Americans check their work email at least ‘sometimes’ while on vacation, while 21% said they ‘always’ check their work email, even while on vacation.
Visit Iceland adds, “Thus, don’t be foal-ish, partake in an interruption free outing to Iceland and recollect, on the off chance that you get work messages while on vacation, Iceland’s ponies take care of you.”
So, if your phone begins to buzz over and over with work messages, tell them you’re not available or as in the wise words of a great horse once said: “““bdqtde’d+pi”
