The California Department of Justice is coming under well-deserved fire after they briefly published the home addresses of every single concealed carry permit holder in the state on Monday.
Folks, the left hates you. They want to strip away your Second Amendment rights because they know if they do, they can get rid of all the others in the Constitution. And because they hate your guts, whenever you get a victory of some kind or for simply no reason at all, they will strike out at you, wishing you physical harm.
Heck, they might go so far as to find ways to make it actually happen. Like in this case.
According to WND, the gun policy publication The Reload, surveyed the tool’s Los Angeles County data and discovered that 244 permit holders were authorized to carry as judges. The information also included the home addresses of the judges, which, obviously, poses a serious threat to their security.
And what’s even more infuriating is that the person responsible for all of this is none other than California Attorney General Rob Bonta, who claimed the database introduced transparency on the state’s process for concealed carry permits.
“After reporting on the database on Tuesday, the utility went offline, suggesting the release of personally identifiable information could’ve been unintended or a mistake,” WND reported.
“Vindictive sore loser bureaucrats have endangered people’s lives and invited conflict by illegally releasing confidential private information,” California Rifle and Pistol Association President Chuck Michel stated in a conversation with The Reload after the leak.
“CRPA is working with several legislators and sheriffs to determine the extent of the damage caused by DOJ’s doxing of law-abiding gun owners. Litigation is likely,” Michel continued.
Before the database was shelved indefinitely, there was some personally identifiable info that was taken down.
“However, California law does protect the home address information of state officials such as judges and prosecutors from release, a law the state Department of Justice appears to have flouted,” the report said.
Here’s the only CCW info that can be (but isn’t necessarily required to be) withheld from public disclosure. Everything else is open to disclosure, including application docs, fingerprints, and copies of licenses. See Cal. Govt Code 6254(u) and Cal. Const. Art. I Sec. 3(b). pic.twitter.com/QSyl8pnKqP

A representative for Attorney General Bonta’s office contacted the folks over at The Reload on Tuesday afternoon and said, “We are investigating an exposure of individuals’ personal information connected to the DOJ Firearms Dashboard.”
“Any unauthorized release of personal information is unacceptable. We are working swiftly to address this situation and will provide additional information as soon as possible,” the representative continued.
Needless to say, it’s not typical for a state attorney general to do something like this, releasing an open database of concealed carry permit holders to the general public. But, given the extreme progressive bent of the state, you probably won’t be surprised to learn this isn’t the first time that California has released information concerning gun owners.
Back in 2016, the California Department of Justice leaked the personal address information of all registered firearms instructors in the state, according to RedState. It’s been claimed that this was an “accident.”
Guess who was serving as the Attorney General at the time…
….Kamala Harris.
Nothing to see here, folks.
At the end of the day, it is critical that this kind of information be protected so as not to allow it to fall into the wrong hands. And by wrong hands I mean loonies on the left who might want to “protest” against guns by taking a firearm of their own — hypocrisy at its finest — and using it to dispatch those listed on such a database.
Hopefully nothing like that happens as a result of this leak. Be safe, folks.
