Former Labor Secretary under President Bill Clinton, Robert Reich, 76, recently stated that at his age he knows a couple of things about aging and has said that President Joe Biden should pass on running for president again in 2024.
Tell us something we don’t already know, Bob.
“It’s not death that’s the worrying thing about a second Biden term,” Reich stated in an op-ed piece published by The Guardian concerning the 79-year-old commander-in-chief. “It’s the dwindling capacities that go with aging.”
He’s right about that. Having a guy in the White House who needs a cheat sheet just to know where to park his backside and when to stand up again is worrisome, especially when you realize this guy has the codes to launch a nuclear strike.
That should send a shudder up your spine.
The Daily Wire reported that the op-ed was called, “As a 76-year-old let me say: Joe Biden is too old to run again.”
“Biden would be 82 years old to begin his second term if he runs and wins in 2024, and while Reich said Biden appears to be holding up, as we age, we lose energy and memory,” the report said.
“I often can’t remember where I put my wallet and keys. Certain proper nouns have disappeared altogether. Even when rediscovered, they have a diabolical way of disappearing again,” the Democrat said in the piece.
“Biden’s secret service detail can worry about his wallet, and he’s got a teleprompter for wayward nouns, but I’m sure he’s experiencing some diminution in the memory department,” Reich wrote. “I’m also noticing less patience, perhaps because of an unconscious ‘use by’ timer now clicking away. I’m less tolerant of long waiting lines, automated phone menus, and Republicans.”
“How the hell does Biden maintain tact or patience when he has to deal with Joe Manchin?” Reich wisecracked concerning the West Virginia Democrat Biden has had a few scrapes with during his time in office.
The final line in the op-ed was, “Joe, please don’t run.”
Others have also come out and stated they aren’t sure about Biden’s cognitive abilities, which includes former White House doctor during the Bush, Obama, and Trump administrations.
“Rep. Ronny Jackson isn’t just a Republican member of Congress from Texas, he’s a doctor,” the Daily Wire reported.
“I was a White House physician to three U.S. Presidents, and I can tell you something isn’t right with Joe Biden’s cognitive state,” Jackson wrote in a Facebook post back in February. Then, in June 2021, the doctor referred to “a clear decline of Biden’s cognitive ability.”
There’s no doubt in my mind, given all of the gaffes we’ve seen ever since Biden announced his candidacy for president years ago, that he’s experiencing some serious cognitive decline. He needs to be forced to take a test to find out whether or not he is able to discharge the duties of the office of president or should step down immediately.
Yes, it would absolutely be terrible to have Vice President Kamala Harris as the commander-in-chief, but it would ultimately be less dangerous than having someone with cognitive issues calling the shots.
It’s the dreaded lesser of two evils.
