The world’s most popular podcast host, Joe Rogan, has once again provided liberals and progressives on social media, specifically on Twitter, another reason to absolutely hate his guts, all by simply helping a guest on his program explain how woke folk — poet and didn’t know it — are actually a “non-spiritual religious cult.”
According to the Daily Wire, Rogan recently had a chat on “The Joe Rogan Experience” with tech entrepreneur Marc Andreesen, who stated that it’s part of human nature to want to be included in a group.
Andreesen then went on to compare the Twitter to “evangelical Protestantism,” with Rogan’s guest on the show pointing out how human beings “want to be members of groups” and “cults.”
“Because humans, we want to be members of groups,” Andreessen went on to explain. “We want to reform into new cults. We want to reform into religions. We want to develop new ethical and moral systems and hold each other to them.”
He added, “They are a non-spiritual religious cult.”

“A hallmark of any religion is some crazy, some belief that strikes outsiders as completely crazy,” he said during the interview. “What’s the role of that crazy belief? The role is that by professing your belief in the crazy thing, you basically certify that you’re a member of the group …”
“That’s woke Twitter!” Rogan exclaimed.
“So, woke Twitter has basically recreated, they are a non-spiritual religious cult,” Andreessen responded. Rogan agreed.
“They exhibit all the same religious behaviors,” he continued. “They have ex-communication. They have sin. They have redemption or lack thereof. They have original sin, privilege.”
Rogan then added, “proclamations of piety,” referring to the idea that a person shows how virtuous they are as a member of this crazy cult by sharing how “woke” they are. This is “virtue signaling.”
And that’s not all. These cultists — using the term lightly — “they have church” too, which are DEI seminars, which is a liberal phrase that means, “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.”
The entrepreneur then made the claim that “the woke” who basically live their whole existence on social media, have basically just made their own version of “evangelical Protestantism.”
Rogan, who considers himself politically liberal, recently slammed folks on the left who want to put a muzzle on free speech, thoughts, and ideas.
“Who would’ve thought that, if you look back on the early days, what we used to think of as conservative versus liberal, liberal was pro-free speech,” Rogan stated. “People were open-minded, non-violent. And people were open to other people’s ideas.”
The popular podcast host said the “Right was like a suppressive, nanny state, condemned certain language, condemned certain behaviors. That’s not the case today. Today, the Left has gone so f***ing far Left, so radical, that the Right are the ones that are celebrating comedians and celebrating [Dave] Chappelle.”
Funny how that happened, isn’t it?
Conservatism has a specific set of values that are mostly based on the Holy Bible but are universally accepted in cultures all around the world, whether or not they are a religious society. These values work and often lead to societal flourishing.
When conservatives stand up for these values, they’re championing them because they work. Sometimes this looks like suppression, and at times, it is. Bad ideas, things that are harmful for people and culture at large should be suppressed.
Not by the government, but by free individuals who, collectively, as communities, accept and agree to live by a specific set of standards.
The left wants to force you to believe their way is the right way, the only way. Conservatives want to persuade you their values are best because they believe the evidence supports that claim.
Big difference.
