The handgun carrying 22-year-old who took down a gunman, 20, who opened fire in a shopping mall in Indiana on Sunday murdering 3 people has been lauded as a hero by most, but gun control advocates say he should not be called a “good Samaritan”.
Elijsha Dicken, 22, had been in the Greenwood Park Mall with his girlfriend when Jonathan Sapirman began to shoot at people in the food court with a rifle in what appears to be a random attack, but this is not confirmed.
Pedro Pineda, 56, Rosa Rivera de Pineda, 37 and Victor Gomez, 30, were all shot dead by the gunman. A further 2 victims sustained minor injuries.
The depraved gunman reportedly spent an hour waiting in the food court’s bathroom before emerging with a Sig Sauer 400M rifle which had been legally purchased at a local gun store earlier this year.
Although Sapirman tragically shot three victims dead, the quick thinking and bravery of Dicken meant his attack was cut short.
Fortunately, Dicken was carrying a handgun when he saw what was unravelling in the food court and he used his gun to shoot the attacker dead around 120 seconds after the attack began, possibly saving countless lives.
Someone needs to get this young man Elisjsha Dean Dicken on the Uvalde Law Enforcement payroll right now. The Hero of Greenwood Park Mall in Greenwood, Indiana. Only 22 years old

Greenwood Police Chief, Jim Ison said the young man’s actions were “were nothing short of heroic. He engaged the gunman from quite a distance with a handgun and was very proficient”, while the mayor of Greenwood said:
“Someone we are calling the ‘Good Samaritan’ was able to shoot the assailant and stop further bloodshed. This person saved lives tonight. On behalf of the City of Greenwood, I am grateful for his quick action and heroism in this situation.“
But it seems radical liberal gun control campaigners have a very different point of view.
Many angry anti-gun advocates have taken to social media to vent their fury at the Dicken for legally carrying a handgun in the mall.
According to CBS4 anchor, Justin Kollar, Dicken should not be called a “good Samarian” because he had shot the murderous gunman dead to protect other’s lives:
“The term, ‘Good Samaritan’ came from a Bible passage of a man from Samaria who stopped on the side of the road to help a man who was injured and ignored,” Kollar posted to Twitter.
“I cannot believe we live in a world where the term can equally apply to someone killing someone… my God.”

Others joined in to attack responsible gun-owner and lifesaver, Dicken.
Comedian John Fugelsang posted a disgraceful rant about heroic Dicken to social media, calling the young man a “ammosexual”:
“The Good Samaritan paid for an unknown immigrant’s health care out of pocket,” wrote Fugelsang.
“The Good Samaritan did not shoot anyone. Jesus was not a fan of killing for any reason, including self-defense. But if these ammosexuals had ever read the Bible, they couldn’t support the GOP or NRA.”
Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts also joined in the witch hunt:
“I don’t know who needs to hear this but when a 22-year-old illegally brings a loaded gun into a mall and kills a mass shooter armed with an AR-15 after he already killed three people and wounded others is not a ringing endorsement of our implementation of the Second Amendment,” she posted on Twitter.
So far, Dicken is yet to make a public statement about his heroic actions.
