Shocking!! Manhattan DA Letting Cop Attacker Go Off Easily

The public has expressed shock after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg let a 16-year-old offender go off easily. The 16-year-old boy, whose identity was not revealed due to his age, had violently assaulted a New York City policeman who confronted him concerning his due subway fees. A CCTV surveillance camera in the area had luckily captured evidence of this violence. The footage shows the teenager repeatedly punching the New York City policeman. Using a chokehold, the teenage boy successfully overpowered the policeman and slammed him against a metal gate.

Shockingly, he was able to escape prison as the District Attorney’s office recommended releasing the teenage boy without bail to be tried at the family court as a juvenile, only facing rehabilitation instead.

The public had responded to this event, saying that the teenager was let off too easily for such a crime which made the DA’s office defend the reason behind their judgment.

Emily Tuttle, a spokesman for Alvin Bragg, commented, “Our system must respond to children as children.”

“Violence against our police officers is unacceptable, and given his age at the time of the arrest, we consented to send the second case to family court as soon as possible, where he would receive the age-appropriate interventions and supports he needs while being held accountable,” she explained.

According to the state’s laws, teenagers aged 16 and 17 charged with misdemeanors and nonviolent felonies are automatically sent to the family court. However, crimes that involve violence or firearms can be sent to the criminal court following the DA’s decision.

Rehabilitation seems unacceptable as the teenager is not a first-time offender, and his crimes also involve violence. In just four months, the teenage boy has proven to be a handful as he has already been arrested on two different accounts. Only three days before attacking the police officer, the adolescent boy had allegedly attacked and robbed a stranger but was quickly released without bail. In April, another incident occurred where this same teenager was arrested for possessing a handgun and a crossbow. With this teenager, it seems that he keeps committing a bigger crime than the last and has not repented from his ways because he has never been punished for his actions.

The public has expressed concerns about the DA’s leniency to this particular boy, especially as he just charged a bodega worker who stabbed another in self-defense despite the public’s cry in his favor. A 61-year-old man named Jose Alba was attacked while working. He instinctively grabbed a knife, stabbed his attacker in self-defense, and was charged with second-degree murder by Bragg.

The DA only recently dropped all charges against Alba due to intensified pressure from the public and New York City’s politicians like Mayor Eric Adams as they all publicly expressed their dissatisfaction with his charges. Just a few weeks after this incident, he is lenient towards a violent teenager and has left the public wondering why such a judgment was made.
