Most of us are aware that the lottery is nothing more than a hope to help keep the poor right where they are at and collect what little money they have. It’s a false hope that you may never win, and you have greater chances of getting struck by lightning.
Some might say that you can never win if you don’t play, and while that might be correct, we can also look at those in history who’ve won big. Their life is flipped upside down and they often don’t know how to manage the money and end up broke, dead, or in a lot of debt, and that is something I’d rather just stay away from.
However, that is usually the case for those who buy lottery tickets for themselves, but what about an employer buying lottery tickets for you? And no, the lottery ticket isn’t just for someone who got employee of the month or did a good job. Instead, it’s for every employee of a popular franchise in a particular area.
The founder behind Louisiana-based Raising Caine’s, Todd Graves, purchased a $2 Mega Millions ticket for every one of his employees totaling 50,000 tickets. Assuming any of the tickets are a huge win which is currently up to $810 million – every employee will get thousands of dollars.
Now, I’ve worked at places, and we’ve seen on the news what happens when a group of people split lottery tickets. Even if they seem level-headed and say things will be equally, it usually ends up with someone wanting more or being greedy, or people trying to get a one-up on someone else. In short, it doesn’t usually end well, but hopefully, this group lottery will be different if they were to win.
Lottery officials have raised the Mega Millions grand prize to $810 million, and if no one wins it’ll keep raising, giving players a shot at the nation’s fourth largest jackpot. The prize amount started at $20 million back in April and has had a chance to grow so large because no one has won in three months.
Owner Todd Graves said that he wants to thank his crew for all the hard work they do every day and that the success they enjoy couldn’t have been done without them. “As soon as we heard how big this jackpot prize is, we couldn’t miss out on the chance to win the Mega Millions jackpot and share it with our crew who always stand together. None of what we do at Cane’s would be possible without our crew, which is why we are always looking for ways to bring them a little extra fun, and if we’re lucky, a surprise on Wednesday morning,” Graves said.
The next drawing is set for today – July 26th at 11 p.m. ET (10 p.m. CT) – and someone could win a payout of $810 million or $470.1 million cash payout. The jackpot turned over again after no ticket matched the drawing on Friday night.
For those of us who know better, we wish them all the best, but the odd thing – at least to me – is why couldn’t the owner use all the money he just spent to gamble which was $100,000 to give his employees a bonus check or a raise or something that will for sure go into their pockets and show the appreciation?
