Top Biden Adviser Asked Whether A Recession Is Coming; Here’s How He Responded

Jared Bernstein, who serves as a member of President Joe Biden’s Council of Economic Advisers, was asked if the United States is headed for a recession, and true to Democrat form, he danced around the question like Fred Astaire on the set of Dancing in the Rain.

According to a report published by The Daily Wire, Fox News anchor Shannon Beam asked Bernstein during an interview about a number of issues ranging from skyrocketing inflation to the stalled legislative agenda of the Biden administration. When he was asked about the chances our nation has of experiencing an economic contraction, Bernstein dodged the question by pointing to a strong labor market and high consumer spending.

Wouldn’t it be absolutely refreshing to have someone, basically anyone, in the government who is willing to tell us the truth instead of trying to speak in riddles and give word salads, completely ignoring actual facts in favor of propaganda to push an agenda?

It would seriously be like having a spiritual experience to hear that kind of talk coming from someone who works in the public sector.

“It is very hard to conclude that we are in a recession when you look at the payroll and the job gains that we’ve seen now, it is tricky to look around the corner here, and I’m not going to predict quarters down the road,” he stated during the interview. “But I think right now, you’ve got inflation headwinds big time in this economy — not taking anything away from that — but you also have some very strong tailwinds that are boosting consumers.”

Rather than true economic growth, inflationary pressures are likely inducing the higher expenditures from American households, with many dipping into savings to make ends meet as consumer confidence plummets to its lowest level in seven decades. Meanwhile, the labor force participation rate — the percentage of people who either have a job or are actively looking for one — has not recovered since the recession, likely worsening inflation,” the Daily Wire reported.

With respect to recessionary risks, the United States economy shrank at a 1.5% annual rate during the first quarter of 2022, according to a report from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. Although data for the second quarter has not yet been released, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta is forecasting that the economy continued to contract at a 1.5% pace. A recession is defined by two consecutive quarters of negative growth,” the report continued.

Just last month, President Joe Biden made a similar claim during an interview he conducted, stating that a recession is “not inevitable” and then went on to say that Americans “shouldn’t believe” the warnings being shouted from the rooftops by economists.

Despite the fact these are folks who literally devote their entire lives to the study of how the economy works, we’re not supposed to pay them any mind. Now take that same statement and apply it to COVID and doctors. Watch how quickly they spin that principle right around.

“Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) provoked frustration last week from Democratic leadership after he “unequivocally” refused to support any new provisions related to climate change and tax increases. Bernstein added that Biden is willing to “take the executive order and rule change path” in order to advance his agenda if there is “no legislative path forward,” the Daily Wire reported.

“This president has tackled aggressively climate change measures already,” Bernstein then remarked. “He has set the most rigorous emissions standards yet to be set in this country, and he has helped to jumpstart the offshore wind industry. Now, those are all measures that he took by the power of the pen through executive action and rule changes. And he will continue to do that.”

Anything but the truth. That’s what politicians and the ilk who serve them will tell you. Our economy is in tatters right now. It doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, with the right policies put in place, things can heal, can rebound and be even better than they were before the dark times ushered in by President Biden.

This is why it is critical for conservatives to take back control of the House and Senate this November and then work toward the White House in 2024. At that point, we need to make some serious changes if we want to be a prosperous nation again.
