The Brittney Griner story feels a lot like the Biden presidency. It is dragging on with no solution in sight, and we are all just ready for it to be over, one way or the other.
Turns out old Joe is as ineffective at one as he is the other. His Presidency is a disaster, and he has shown no ability or inclination to lift a bony finger to help the rightfully detained WNBA player.
Despite numerous pleas, including a handwritten letter to the president that I can only assume someone had to read to him, Britt is still cooling her heels in the Gulag and thinking about her actions. Or maybe not. She hates America anyway.
Brittney’s wife is finally taking to the big guns for help, the media. let’s see what Outkick is saying:
Push came to shove after Brittney Griner’s detainment by the Russian government reached 140 days this week.
With Griner potentially facing 10 years of prison and an indefinite stay under Russian authority, her camp is pressing the Biden administration for its lack of progress with getting BG back home.
The WNBA star sent a handwritten letter to the White House, received on the Fourth of July. In the letter, Griner pleaded for help from Biden and spoke about her grim outlook in Russia due to scant response by the White House.
Wife Cherelle Griner also stepped up due to the administration’s inactivity, speaking with CBS Mornings’ Gayle King on her efforts to return Griner to the States.
How ironic that Griner sent a letter on the Fourth of July pleading to come back to a country she HATES! My goodness the irony is delightful.
Maybe Britt should’ve considered the potential consequences of smuggling hash oil into freaking Russia! Nah, that would require intelligence, which we have to assume is in short supply in the Griner camp, all things considered.
As part of the Tuesday morning sit-down with King, Cherelle clearly defined the US government’s lack of effort as “very disheartening.”
Cherelle shared that the administration previously advised her not to voice any public outrage toward the matter, asking her to “stay quiet” and not “raise [Brittney’s] value,” according to the interview.
“I will not be quiet anymore,” said Cherelle, who’s been increasingly concerned for Brittney’s safety in Russian detainment.
She added, “I will find that balance of harm versus help and pushing our government to do everything that’s possible because being quiet means they are not moving; they are not doing anything.”
Well Cherelle, I’m afraid it isn’t looking good. This is Russia during wartime we are talking about. You also no longer have a true advocate for America like Donald Trump in the White House.
“I still have not heard from him,” Cherelle Griner said. “And honestly, it’s very disheartening.” https://t.co/uhTjTsofjv

Will going to the media and pressuring Joe Biden make a difference? Does Joe Biden even care? I’m also thinking “no” on both points. If Donald Trump was able to free A$AP Rocky from a Swedish prison by threatening a trade war, you’d think Biden would at least have some idea of how to get creative in bringing Griner back.
In the letter received on the Fourth, Griner touched on her family’s military background and allegiance to the nation.
“On the 4th of July, our family normally honors the service of those men who fought for our freedom, including my father who is a Vietnam War Veteran,” Brittney wrote.
“It hurts thinking about how I usually celebrate this day because freedom means something completely different to me this year.
It ALMOST sounds like Britt has learned a valuable lesson here. Maybe appreciate your country and the freedoms you take for granted? Could this entire case serve as a cautionary tale for other people; people who also complain about America? Probably not.
I don’t think it’s harsh or an unpopular opinion to say, let her stay. Let her face the consequences for her actions. Is it sad? Sure. Is it likely to be harsh? No doubt, it’s Russia for Pete’s sake.
Unfortunately, sometimes people have to learn lessons the hard way and serve as an example for other people in terms of what NOT to do. Hopefully this will be the one good thing that comes from this story.
