We all know what happened in the Johnny Depp defamation trial. There were lots of meme moments, and Depp won the case. Amber on the other hand made whiney faces and spoke about her dog stepping on a bee.
While the entire thing seemed like a big joke one thing was for certain among all those who tried to stay away from this case – and that’s that we wouldn’t hear about it or see it anymore. You couldn’t go online anywhere and not see or hear about it.
Finally – we’re done, or so we thought. It seems as though Amber hasn’t heard that she lost the case against The Captain.
Unsatisfied with the decision, which was drawn out and took weeks to complete, Amber filed for an appeal of the decision. I guess she wasn’t done telling us about her dog and that bee. “The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband,” she said after the decision in a statement.
With words like that and money to toss around – you can bet that she’d try to return for a different outcome. However, a Virginia Judge denied all seven of the post-preliminary movements she documented while trying to fight the jury decision.
She also said that she felt that her rights to fair treatment and to ‘speak freely’ were taken away during the trial, but a judge also met those words head-on. Judge Penney Azcarate said in a court request documented Wednesday that Heard’s freedoms to fair treatment were not impacted because no misrepresentation or bad behavior happened in the jury selection process.
“The juror was vetted, sat for the entire jury, deliberated, and reached a verdict. The only evidence before this Court is that this juror and all jurors followed their oaths, the Court’s instructions, and orders. This Court is bound by the competent decision of the jury,” he said.
Azcarate added that if Amber and her team had heard of the jury selection process and had an issue with it, they should have spoken up and acted on it then. It’s not like they didn’t have time to do so, the trial took weeks to conclude.
Lawyers for Depp documented a response memo against Heard’s post-preliminary movements last week in front of the adjudicator’s choice, calling the legitimate contentions silly.
“While Ms. Heard slings an exceptional amount of mud at the wall in the hope that something might stick, the jury’s verdict on damages was perfectly reasonable and supported by the evidence and testimony in this case,” the memo stated
The entire thing seems silly, and something you’d see on a movie or TV show at this point. Makes you kind of wonder if something was or is going on while all eyes and ears were glued on this clown show, but who knows.
Agents from both Heard and Depp declined to make any remarks or further speak when asked by news outlets on the judge’s orders. Heard’s appeal of the conclusion is presently still pending.
