Like husband like wife? Jill Biden has put her foot well and truly in it as she insulted the Latino community in a speech about Hispanic inclusivity yesterday as she likened the minority group to “breakfast tacos” and, much like her husband, made a series of other embarrassing gaffes.
Her remarks sparked criticism among members of the community and The National Association of Hispanic Journalists, who said the First Lady should not stereotype Hispanic people:
“We are not tacos. Our heritage as Latinos is shaped by a variety of diasporas, cultures and food traditions, and should not be reduced to a stereotype,” said the Association.
Speaking at the annual UnidosUS conference in San Antonio, Biden praised the organization’s founder, Raul Yzaguirre, but her speech flopped when she made some insulting comparisons:
“Raul helped build this organization with the understanding that the diversity of this community, as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami, and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio, is your strength,” said Biden.
Not only did Biden compare Latin Americans to tacos, but she also completely mispronounced the word “bodegas”, which are stores in NYC often owned by Dominicans or Puerto Ricans, instead saying it as “bogedas”.
She went on to talk about the Ulvade school shooting, in which 19 children, many of them from Latino backgrounds were shot dead along with their two teachers:
“I stood in front of those 21 crosses and touched the pictures of the bright, beautiful faces that would never again laugh, or open birthday presents, or tell their parents that they love them. And I knew that a piece of Uvalde would always be a part of me,” she said, adding that her husband “will do everything he can to call on Congress to act, including on measures to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.”
“A ban on guns that only belong on the battlefield. The right to make our own decisions about our own bodies.”
During the announcement of the new gun laws, president gaffe-machine Biden accidentally said that the Parkland school shooting, which happened on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2018, had happened 100 years earlier in 1918:
“Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, 1918, 17 dead, 17 injured,” blundered the president, who turns 80 in November.
President Biden’s approval rating among the Hispanic community continues to plummet, and many Latino voters are switching their support to the GOP as the community becomes more disillusioned by the Democrat’s lofty-lefty policies.
According to the data presented in a Marist list survey in May, 52% of Latinos now support the GOP, while only 39% said they would vote Democrat. Many feel that under Biden, the Dems have lost touched with the working classes and the everyday struggles of hardworking Americans.
“If you look at things like the Texas local elections, the New Jersey elections, Nassau County elections, the Virginia elections, they all point to Hispanics not just snapping back but continuing to get more Republican in relative terms than they were before”, said left-wing data analyst David Shor.
In 2020, Hispanic support for Dems had dropped 8 points since Hilary’s campaign, from 71 percent to 63 percent in four years.
