Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey Says ‘We Can’t Wait Any Longer’

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has taken matters into his own hands and has begun to secure the state’s open border with Mexico using shipping containers as a makeshift barrier to plug up a 1,000-foot gap in the fence.

Ducey said his actions are necessary to protect the safety and security of the people in Arizona as the Biden administration has refused to fix the problem.

Arizona has a 370-mile-long border with Mexico and at least 430,342 illegal migrants have been picked by the border control in the region so far this year.

“Arizona has had enough,” Tweeted Ducey.

“We can’t wait any longer. The Biden administration’s lack of urgency on border security is a dereliction of duty.”

The gap in the border wall is situated in the small farming community of Yuma and is the third busiest path into the United States for migrants, beaten only by the Rio Grande Valley and Del Rio in Texas.

The Yuma section has seen a 300 percent increase in migrant encounters this year and the crisis is showing no signs of slowing.

Ducey said he had continually asked the Biden administration to provide resources for the gap to be fixed, but his words fell on deaf ears:

“For the last two years, Arizona has made every attempt to work with Washington to address the crisis on our border”, continued Ducey’s Tweet.

“Time and again we’ve stepped in to clean up their mess. Arizonans can’t wait any longer for the federal government to deliver on their delated promises.”

State contractors have started to assemble a make-shift wall out of 9ft shipping containers, piling them up 3-high which will then be topped with razor wire.

While Ducey does not have official permission to erect the 3,000-foot-long barricade on federal land, the shipping container wall will be completed in a matter of days.

Ducey Tweeted a video of the containers being stacked up by machines yesterday.

“HAPPENING NOW,” he wrote about the video.

“Construction begins on a physical barrier at the Yuma portion of the border.

A spokesman for Customs and Border Protection, John Mennell said the agency had only just learned of the construction of the border wall in Arizona but “is not prepared to comment at this time”.  

The move comes as border states are increasingly struggling to cope with the record-breaking number of illegal immigrants swarming into them while liberals elsewhere demand open border policies.

Arizona, along with Texas, has been sending bus-loads of migrants to left-wing-run cities including Washington over the past few months.

DC’s Dem. Mayor, Muriel Bowser was forced to admit the influx had caused a “significant issue” as the city struggled to find available spaces at over-full homeless shelters for the bus-loads of needy people.

So far, Arizona has sent 1,425 migrants to Washington where they will be allowed to live and work while their asylum claim is processed.

Biden vowed to completely stop the construction of Trump’s border wall upon his presidency but has since said some physical barriers will be erected for ‘safety’ reasons.

As more migrants are shipped to liberal’s doorsteps, perhaps they’ll begin to see that the problem isn’t just hypothetical or an issue to virtue signal about on social media.

A physical border is necessary both for the safety of the migrants, and also to protect the safety, security, and social stability of American citizens.
