Big Shake Up At CNN: Brian Stelter Just Got His Pink Slip

Na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na, hey, hey, hey, goodbye.

One of CNN’s most obnoxious on-air personalities, Brian Stelter, is apparently leaving the network as part of an ongoing shakeup over at the Democratic Party’s leading propaganda maker.

Not only that, his show, “Reliable Sources,” which was anything but its title, will air its last program on Sunday, August 21. And you know what? I could not be happier about the whole thing.

According to a report from the New York Post, a spokesperson for the news network said, “CNN will end its Reliable Sources program on Sunday, August 21st. As a result Brian Stelter will leave the company. We appreciate his contributions to the network and wish him well as he embarks on new endeavors.”

Stelter’s program was actually the longest-running show on the network prior to the announcement made on Thursday. Stelter was the anchor for the program for nine years.

Stelter, 36, went on to confirm the news in a statement, going on to say he would reveal more details about the cancellation and his departure from CNN on the final episode this Sunday. Network head Chris Licht made Stelter aware of the decision on Wednesday.

“I’m grateful for my nine years with CNN, proud of what we accomplished on Reliable Sources and so thankful for the viewers who tuned in every week for our examination of the media, truth and the stories that shape our world,” Stelter went on to say.

“It was a rare privilege to lead a weekly show focused on the press at a time when it has never been more consequential. I’ll have more to say on Sunday,” he continued.

Here’s more from the Post story:

The circumstances behind Stelter’s departure and the show’s cancellations were not immediately clear. However, Licht and WarnerBros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav are leading a sweeping overhaul at CNN that has included cost-cutting measures.

In June, Axios reported that Licht was pushing for CNN to shift toward less partisan coverage and closely monitoring anchors to ensure they adhered to the change in tone – with those who were unable to do so potentially facing the ax.

The report identified Stelter and fellow CNN anchor Jim Acosta as among the personalities whose left-leaning viewpoints have drawn the ire of conservatives in recent years.

Back in May, Licht blasted out a memo to staffers at the network stating that “too many people have lost trust in the news media.”

“I think we can be a beacon in regaining that trust by being an organization that exemplifies the best characteristics of journalism: fearlessly speaking truth to power, challenging the status quo, questioning ‘group-think, and educating viewers and readers with straightforward facts and insightful commentary, while always being respectful of differing viewpoints.” Licht proclaimed in the memo.

“First and foremost, we should, and we will be advocates for the truth,” he said.

Perhaps Licht is actually serious about drawing CNN back from the lunatic fringe of the left-wing? Maybe he really does want to restore faith and trust between the viewing public and the mainstream media. If so, he’s got a whole lot of work to do and should assume this is going to be a lifetime mission.

CNN has done such tremendous damage to the country with its left-wing bias, constantly attacking former President Donald Trump during his years in office, along with vilifying every supporter he has, that most people aren’t going to be willing to give the network a chance no matter how much reform is done.

It’ll be interesting to see what the details are on this situation from Stelter himself over the weekend.
