One of the greatest, rational thinkers of our day is “Dirty Jobs” host Mike Rowe. This guy truly understands the average American working man (and woman), often offering common sense critiques of a politically divided culture that has clearly gone off its crazy pills.
And now, Rowe is taking on President Joe Biden over his student debt cancellation plan that was announced this week, going on to call it the “biggest pre-Labor Day slap in the face” to working class people he’s ever seen.
Coming from a well-rounded and extremely grounded guy like Rowe, this hits hard.
According to The Daily Wire, the 60-year-old television host took to Facebook where he stated that he’s been trying hard to “avoid the politics of the moment” on his page, focusing mainly on the impact that the foundation he created is having on helping everyday people learn a skilled trade.
And believe it or not, a skilled trade often comes with way more opportunities than going to college does, allowing you to take a job in a highly paid, highly sought-after industry, or even start your own business.
Rowe then stated that despite his efforts to steer away from politics, once Biden unveiled his student loan cancellation plan, which just transfers “billions of dollars” in loans and slaps it down “onto the backs” of the very same individuals that his foundation has worked so hard to help over the course of the last twenty years, he felt he had to say something.
According to the report, Rowe then explained what his foundation does, which is to help award “work-ethic scholarships to individuals who choose to forego an expensive, four-year education in favor of a skilled trade.”
He then took an opportunity to take a sledgehammer to Biden’s plan, calling it more than unfair.
“When I do weigh in, I try to acknowledge both sides of the argument, and make my points with as much respect as I can muster,” the host went on to say in the post. “Today, however, I can see only one side. Today, I can find nothing to respect in the President’s decision to transfer billions of dollars in outstanding student loans onto the backs of those people my foundation tries to assist — the same people I’ve spent the last twenty years profiling on Dirty Jobs.”
“With that in mind, I’m not going to write the piece I just sat down to write,” he continued. “Instead, I’m going to share the attached article from Charlie Cooke, who writes better than I do, and shares my disdain for what just happened. If you share our disdain, then please, share this post as well. This decision is without question, the biggest pre-Labor Day slap in the face to working people I’ve ever seen.”
The post from Rowe also included a link to an article from National Review called, “Biden’s Student-Debt Bonfire Is a Classist Message to the Uncredentialed: Screw ‘Em.”
“Rowe and Cooke aren’t the only people who have slammed the president’s plan to cancel $10,000 in debt for those earning less than $125,000 a year, as The Daily Wire previously reported,” the report stated.
Joe Biden: Cancelling student debt is “fair”@benshapiro: “By fair, he means that if you didn’t get a college degree, you’re subsidizing people who went to college. And that if you paid off your college loans, you’re subsidizing people who didn’t.” pic.twitter.com/cqxgjnxAhT
