Jalen Rose, a sports analyst for ESPN, recently stated that folks need to stop saying “Mount Rushmore” because the term is “offensive,” as it refers to a monument that was built “on top of dead bodies.”
Man, is it just me or does ESPN need to start offering potential hires a free mental health screening to make sure the individuals they put on the air haven’t lost their marbles?
Rose, who used to play professional baseball, went on to say last week that “using Mount Rushmore to define greatness should be retired immediately.”
According to Just the News, the ESPN personality then posted a video on Twitter that explained why the phrase is similar to the Washington Redskins and the Cleveland Indians, both being professional sports teams who have undergone name changes.

“Can we retire ‘Mount Rushmore’? That should be offensive to all of us, especially Native Americans and indigenous people,” he remarked.
Rose claims that Mount Rushmore, one of our nation’s most popular monuments, was built on land that was “stolen” from Native Americans “when it was discovered that it contained gold.”
“The iconic monument, which is carved into South Dakota’s Black Hills on land sacred to the Lakota Sioux, features the faces of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln,” Just the News reported.
“And 25 years later, to add insult to injury, four American presidents were put on what we call Mount Rushmore on the top of the dead bodies that is buried right underneath,” Rose continued.
The former baseball player then urged those viewing the video to “stop using the term ‘Mount Rushmore’” when they are chatting about their favorite rap artists, actors, or athletes.
Thankfully, there are still a few sane folk left in the country that haven’t been brainwashed by the lies of liberal progressivism.
South Dakota GOP Gov. Kristi Noem stepped up to the plate and took a swing at Rose’s statements against the monument.
“The four men on Mount Rushmore were amazing, flawed American leaders who helped make America what it is today — the greatest country the world has ever known. To the woke leftists obsessed with attacking these leaders, I’ve got news for you: not on my watch,” she said in a post published on Twitter.
It seems that people who work in the wide world of sports are super easily influenced by what they read or hear repeated in the mainstream media, exercising little to no discernment when it comes to the material presented to them as fact.
There have always been knuckleheads who believe the junk they are told without researching for themselves, but things have gotten out of hand lately.
Not everything about America is steeped in racism. It’s ridiculous that such a notion is now required to be defended by those who love their country. But alas, all of the indoctrination happening at public schools has accomplished some major goals by convincingly telling folks that the nation they love is filled to the brim with hatred.
Sad times for our country.
