After struggling to cope with the never-ending influx of illegal migrants swarming across the US-Mexico border, Texas governor Greg Abbott has begun to send busloads of migrants to other states.
This Friday morning, the first 50 (predominantly) illegal migrants arrived via bus in New York City. The bus stopped at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan after the 2000-mile journey from the border.
After disembarking from the bus, the migrants were left to fend for themselves. Some local charity workers arrived to help them secure hostels and homeless shelters for the night.
One of the migrants said he had been allowed to cherry-pick which area of the country he would prefer to live in. Jose Rodriguez, 38, told the MailOnline that he had chosen New York because he felt it presented the “best opportunities” for him.
Another, Bertillo Rosale, 54, said he wants to enjoy some sight-seeing in the city before he tries to get a job:
“I want to see the Statue of Liberty and the rest of the city. There are more job opportunities here, I will do anything I can. The bus here was good, we have all come from all over.”
New York is now the second city, the first being Washington DC, to have had migrants bussed in from border states while they await the processing of their asylum claims in the courts.
During their period of waiting, the Biden administration has allowed the migrants to go to work to sustain themselves.
Under UN law, member states must legally process the asylum claims of (supposed) refugees, although this can legally be completed while the applicant remains in a secure detention center.

Because of the huge number of migrants coming across the border, keeping all of them in secure units is now virtually impossible.
Record numbers of illegal immigrants are now crossing the border month on month, with US border authorities having processed at least 1.7 million in the last fiscal year.
Forcing border states to take in an infinite number of migrants while their asylum claims are processed is both impractical and impossible.
Nevertheless, the Biden administration has accused Republican states of using the migrants as a “political ploy” by sending them to other states and cities – many of which are governed by left-wingers who support an open border approach.
DC’s Dem. mayor, Muriel Bowser said the migrants were causing her city to endure a “humanitarian crisis” and was forced to call for the help of the National Guard to deal with the 5000 new arrivals.
Texas gov. Abbott said the blame solely rests on Biden’s shoulders because of his “refusal” to acknowledge the need for tighter border controls and a better internal immigration system to quickly process claims:
“Because of President Biden’s continued refusal to acknowledge the crisis caused by his open border policies, the State of Texas has had to take unprecedented action to keep our communities safe,” said Abbott.
“In addition to Washington, D.C., New York City is the ideal destination for these migrants, who can receive the abundance of city services and housing that Mayor Eric Adams has boasted about within the sanctuary city.
“I hope he follows through on his promise of welcoming all migrants with open arms so that our overrun and overwhelmed border towns can find relief.”
Since May, 4000 migrants have been sent to NY, overloading the city’s struggling homeless shelters to breaking point.
Meanwhile, New York’s woke mayor, Eric Adams has said the city will welcome the migrants with “open arms”:
“New York is a city of immigrants, and we will always welcome newcomers with open arms. Over the past two months, we have seen a significant increase in the number of asylum seekers arriving in our city’s shelter system,” he said.
Violent crime stats continue to rise in the Big Apple, and the city’s homelessness problem has spiraled into an increasingly dire situation.
Let’s see how Adam’s copes when the numbers continue to wheel in, or, like Biden, will he simply bury his head in the sand?
