A self-acclaimed activist is now facing severe criticism after the public found out about his recent purchase of a thoroughbred show dog worth $40,000 using funds from different benefactors. Shaun King is one of the Black Lives Matter activist and New York Times best-selling author who is also the co-founder of a non-profit political action committee, Grassroot Law.
Reports say that Grassroot Law recently purchased a dog worth $40,650 from a breeding company, Potrero Performance Dogs, labelling this money as contractor services. After concluding this transaction with the breeding agency, the activist also took to his social media account to celebrate his new purchase. With the caption on his post, he had welcomed the Dog named Marz to his family. This $40,000 dog is reported to be a spotted mastiff purchased to protect King’s family from danger and keep them alert.
The Committee, however, did not take this new addition to King’s family lightly as they considered it a total misappropriation of funds. This dog is worth almost all of the Committee’s donations for over a year. Their contribution, which amounted to about $56,000, was meant for political prospects and not King’s security.

Amidst this chaos, King deleted his social media post and returned the dog to Potrero, who also made a post about the dog, only to take it down after a while. Since then, King has continuously been called out and criticized by many people who have called him a criminal and a thief. However, the Capital Research Center has informed the people that his purchase might not necessarily be illegal. He added that it is only morally wrong at most as it “shows little respect for King’s donors.”
In similar news, King has also come out on Tuesday to defend himself regarding the allegations against him. “I need you to know this so that you understand why our family not only needs a guard dog at home, but 24/7 security wherever we go. White supremacists and people who’ve meant my family harm have now shown up to our last three homes.”
He made this ridiculous statement about non-existent white supremacists coming after him. According to him, these ‘invisible’ people are after his life which is why he needs to buy a single dog for $40k.
“I spend more time each day now thinking about how to keep my family safe than I do doing the actually work I’m called to do. So know this, when you see reports about the money it costs to keep me and my family safe, it’s nowhere near enough,” he added.
Furthermore, he tried to defend his purchase, saying that it was more sensible and less costly compared to the cost of hiring human guard services. He added that Marz was only returned because the dog wasn’t a perfect fit for his family.
None of this, however, seems to clear him of all accusations as different individuals keep coming out to accuse King of other fraudulent practices. In the end, most of these fake activists are bunch of crooks deceiving gullible people for personal gain.
