Kanye West Clothing Line Is Trash? GAP Selling It Out of Bags!

These are some strange days folks, no denying it.

Just think about what’s been going on in the world the last several years. You have a reality star president (and a damn good one), a world where you can’t find baby formula one week, and toilet paper the next, a global pandemic that turned out to be one of the biggest scams in human history, need I go on?

Oh, did I mention Kanye West is selling his clothing line in GAP stores out of trash bags? Yep, you read that right. Let’s rummage through Outkick for the details:

The latest controversy within the pop culture world surrounds how Kanye West is selling his Yeezy clothing line at Gap stores where clothes are spilling out of huge bags and customers have to dig through the bags to find their sizes for the informal clothing.

So much here; I wasn’t aware Kanye West had a clothing line, no less one being sold out of perhaps the whitest store this side of Banana Republic, the GAP.

And now I am curious. I love GAP clothes, go figure as I’m the whitest guy ever, and I also love rummage sales. This sounds like a pretty interesting idea.

“I don’t like hangers,” West told Eric Shawn for an interview that aired Thursday on “Fox & Friends.” 

“Back when I used to work at The Gap I used to sit there and fold and make everything super neat and I just felt like that gets pretentious and classist. The whole point of why I came to the Gap was to make egalitarian clothing and I remember times being in the [Dominican Republic] and seeing clothes in bins and see people be happy to have a moment of discovery.”

Now, I would have never described the GAP as pretentious and classist, I mean it’s just khaki shorts and button-down shirts and jeans that just don’t fit quite right, but what do I know, I don’t possess the quiet genius that Kanye West does.

Also, is anyone else’s mind blown at the mental picture of a young Ye folding t shirts and straightening the clearance section? Mine is!

However, I do get what West is talking about. I have been known to rummage through boxes of odd sized t shirts and to dig through Goodwill bins in search of bargains and unique items. Maybe Kanye IS smarter than the rest of us!

“I’m an innovator, and I’m not here to sit up and apologize about my ideas.”

“That’s exactly what the media tries to do. Make us apologize for any idea that doesn’t fall under exactly the way they want us to think.”

“At the end of the day, we did something fire and if you know, you know,” Ye continued. “And if you don’t, you corny at the end of the day. Seriously. I’m not trying to overexplain it to you. This is style. Everyone trying to clown me, y’all probably weren’t never fresh.”

“My idea is to create a type of wardrobe where you can get dressed in the dark.”

No Ye, you DON’T have to apologize for your genius. The media is whack my dude, they don’t understand you like we do.

I like to think I “know”, but if I don’t know, maybe I just learned. I’ve often been accused of not being fresh.

Preach Ye, I don’t want to be corny, and at the end of the day all I want to be is fresh. I also still have friends that dress like they are dressing in the dark. Cargo shorts and strappy sandals? Maybe I’m the one that needs to get down to the GAP and freshen up my wardrobe with some of Ye’s trash bag clothes. Just a thought!
