Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., popularly known as Snoop Dogg, is venturing into children’s entertainment and has been making moves in this new territory.
He recently launched a YouTube channel called “Doggyland — Kids Songs & Nursery Rhymes,” where he plans to introduce education and entertainment to children. The veteran performer is also set to release new songs featuring only nursery rhymes and songs to learn the alphabet.
Overall, all content on this channel helps children learn social and emotional skills through rap, dance, and song.

“Songs help promote social emotional development as well as age related cognitive development in the preschool set. We cover a wide range of engaging topics such as letters, numbers, colors, animals, good habits, hygiene, accepting others and more, along with modern remixes of classic nursery rhymes.”
In his first video on the YouTube channel, dubbed “Welcome to Doggyland’” he wrote, “Welcome to Doggyland, the home of modern, hip hop inspired takes on kids songs and nursery rhymes presented by Snoop Dogg!”
The caption adds, “This show features a colorful cast of dogs who educate and entertain children through the power of singing, dancing and rapping! The cast is composed of Bow Wizzle (played by Snoop Dogg) and the puppies Wags, Yap Yap, Barks-A-Locks and Chow Wow!”
Snoop has also reportedly partnered with the producer Claude Brooks and singer October London to create content for the channel. The Emmy-nominated producer is not a newbie to kids’ entertainment as he has previously produced content for children. He also worked on the project “Hip Hop Harry,” as an executive producer.
According to Snoop, the character he will play in this series is “the big brother, mentor, looks after all of the young pups. Great director, great singer, but most importantly, he’s a phenomenal rapper. And you know the kids love rapping.” He adds that the character Bow Wizzle is a greater version of him.
In addition, Doggyland will include several animated singing dogs that will also be dancing to classic children’s songs. Every character in the series would also be of different shapes and colors in an attempt to promote diversity and inclusion.
In a press release, Snoop explained why he is going into children’s entertainment and what he aims to achieve by doing this as the already accomplished entertainer he is.
He said, “As a father, grandfather, and longtime youth football coach, it’s always been important to me to build positive and educational environments for all children. We wanted to bring our show to YouTube and YouTube Kids, which provides free access to everyone, so all the kids can enjoy it.”
He added that he has always had it in mind to create something that lets children be children, let them have fun, and learn through it. He adds that it was also important to him to let every child learn more about culture and be able to relate to it through music.
Six videos have already been posted on the channel, and new episodes are scheduled to be uploaded every Tuesday.
