In the Wisconsin Republican Party primary for the gubernatorial race, Tim Michels has pulled out a major victory, making a complete sweep of both gubernatorial and congressional endorsements for former President Donald Trump.
If you are a Republican who is wondering if Trump still retains a lot of his power, influence, and impact on the party, this should be all the answer you need. It’s quite clear that folks still trust him and believe in his vision for the United States.
According to a report from Newsmax, Decision Desk HQ projected the victory at 11:37 pm ET, which then gave Trump his 6-0 sweep of primary endorsements for the evening.
“Congratulations to Tim Michels on his win against a wonderful and highly competitive opponent, Rebecca Kleefisch,” Trump wrote Tuesday evening in a post published on Truth Social. “I know both sides will come together and defeat one of the worst governors in the country, Tony Evers.”
There was a pretty big proxy battle going on between the candidate Trump backed and the one supported by former Vice President Mike Pence.
“Trump endorsed Michels, a business man and self-described outsider who has put $12 million into his own campaign, against former Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, who had support of Pence and former Gov. Scott Walker. Both candidates claim 2020 election was rigged, but Kleefisch has said decertifying the results is ‘not constitutional,’ while Michels said ‘everything will be on the table,’” the Newsmax report said.
Michels is now set to go toe-to-toe with Democratic Gov. Tony Evers during the general election come November.
The report also revealed State Assembly Speaker Robin Vos also won her primary, though she and Trump are not exactly on the best of terms after she would not side with him about decertifying the 2020 election results.
“Tuesday’s outcomes have far-reaching consequences beyond Wisconsin, a state that is almost evenly split between Republicans and Democrats and where 2022 will be seen as a bellwether for the 2024 presidential race. The person elected governor this fall will be in office for the presidential election and will be able to sign or veto changes to election laws passed by the Republican-controlled Legislature. The next governor and U.S. senator also may sway decisions on issues from abortion to education and taxes,” Newsmax reported.
Michels is also the co-owner of the largest construction company in the state of Wisconsin and has often pointed toward his work to help establish his family’s business.
During a rally that was held on Friday, former President Trump heaped a bunch of praise on Michels, saying he was an “incredible story of success.” Trump then slammed Kleefisch, stating he is part of the “failed establishment” before firing a couple of shots at Vos.
Michels promised, “We are going to have election integrity here in Wisconsin.” He then stated that he will work to bring law and order back to his state, going on to bash Evers over his handling of schools before pointing the finger at Biden for the hike in prices we’re seeing at grocery stores.
Folks, the influence of Trump is as strong as ever. And with all of the shenanigans surrounding the raid on his Florida property this week, it’s likely going to surge. There’s no way Trump isn’t going to run in 2024. The people will unite behind him to fight the corruption in our government, and that’s what we desperately need.
