Some mysterious message on a billboard has popped up in LA and SF warning people not to move to Texas painting it in a negative light. However, Texans would happily agree with part of the sign.
The bulletin, whose maker remains anonymous, guarantees that the well-known “Texas Miracle” died in the wake of the Uvalde shooting in May. The “Texas Miracle” is a term promoted by former Gov. Rick Perry in 2011 to feature the state’s versatile economy amid the Great Recession.
The board likewise referred to the assertion “Don’t mess with Texas,” which began as an enemy of the littering motto during the 1980s before it developed into a call for state pride. The mass movement of Californians to Texas has been going on for quite a long time in light of multiple factors, which principally have to do with rising housing costs.
The stupid thing though is that people who are unhappy in places like California are unhappy with the laws they themselves voted in, so they want to flock to a great state like Texas and mess other states up as well. It just doesn’t make any sense.
“I think covid has exposed a lot of the weaknesses of the California model because people realize they’re not necessarily getting great services if schools can’t open for much of the year for in-person learning, for example,” Alexandra Suich Bass, a senior journalist for governmental issues, innovation, and society at The Economist, told the Texas Tribune.
“That’s why we’ve seen people opt to leave for Texas. To the extent that California’s leaders don’t grapple with some of the reasons why people are choosing to leave, I think it will hugely disadvantage California,” Suich Bass added.
From 2018 to 2021, around 1,000,000 individuals reportedly applied for another Texas driver’s permit. Some of them — 161,456, to be exact — came from California.
What’s more, is that Asian Americans have been accounted for to make up the vast majority of Texas outsiders. First of all, the state’s Asian populace dramatically increased somewhere in the range of 2005 and 2013 to more than 85,000.
“We’re seeing a big shift, a decline in Latin American migration into Texas and an increase in the Asian-born foreign population in Texas,” state demographer Lloyd Potter told the Miami Herald in 2017. “It’s increasing the diversity and cosmopolitan nature of our urban areas.”
At the same time, a few Texans have communicated disgust about moving Californians changing their way of life. However, specialists are not estimating exceptional changes – and of course, they’d say this.
“People are moving to Texas for a better life, and they’re both Democrats and Republicans. So they’re not going to change Texas very quickly, if at all,” Cal Jillson, a professor of political science at Southern Methodist University said. “The in-migration barely holds Anglo numbers or white numbers in Texas steady. Most of the actual growth in the state is among Hispanics and Asians.”
While all of us Texans share the pain of the family members and community that were affected by the horrendous shooting in Uvalde, the events that unfolded that day do not represent us in any way, that was a crime committed by a scumbag criminal. However, we do agree with the sentiment of discouraging these brainwashed people to come and change things here in the south. Don’t mess with Texas, and don’t California our Texas.
