Sara Haines, one of the many clueless women who co-hosts “The View,” which, in this writer’s opinion, might be the worst talk show in the history of television, squawked on and on during the most recent episode of the program saying there’s “no such thing” as people having late-term abortions. But what really made this comment absurd is just right after saying it, she notes how many folks are having late-term abortions.
Like I’ve always said, there’s some sort of mental disconnect from reality when it comes to individuals who are really and truly liberal. Clearly there is a short circuit in Haines’ brain. The wires are crossed or something. One cannot say that something does not exist and in the same breath cite evidence that proves the thing you said doesn’t exist actually does exist. Did that make sense?
Well, The Daily Wire went on to say in its report on the topic that “Haines joined her cohosts on the ABC midday talk show to discuss the legislation that would ban all abortions federally after 15 weeks — proposed by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on Tuesday — and how it might impact the fast-approaching midterm elections.”
“Joy Behar began the conversation by suggesting that Democrats should thank Graham for driving more voters to the polls, arguing that people were likely to come out in force to prevent any new laws that might place more restrictions on abortion,” the Daily Wire noted.
This is actually a good point. It’s great that Graham wants to fight for the rights of the pre-born. However, this was probably not the right way to do it. In fact, as Behar noted, this effort might end up helping Democrats in many different ways. This legislation makes Graham and other members of the GOP look like hypocrites. Many Republicans swore up and down that the issue of abortion is a state’s issue (it is) and promised that’s where the battle would be fought after the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
Well, now it seems like the Republicans are going back on their word, which is something the left will seize on in their campaigning. It jeopardizes many necessary victories at the polls. Not real good timing for this.
“Listen, Whoopi. Let us take this moment to thank Senator Lindsey Graham, of course, driving more women to vote Democrat in the fall,” Behar went on to say during the show.
“Thank you, so much, because that is exactly what he did, and that’s why people like Jim Jordan are running like rats away from him,” Behar added.
“It’s bad politics for Republicans,” Alyssa Farah Griffin said, adding her two cents on the topic. “For a long time my party has argued states should decide abortion rights … This should have always been decided by the states, so Lindsey Graham just went completely rogue by saying this should be federally –”
“Why do you think he did that?” Behar interjected.
“I think he thought it was going to give him goodwill with some parts of the base, but I disagree with the approach entirely,” Griffin responded, pointing out that most Americans do agree with the idea of placing some restrictions on abortion — especially during the later weeks of pregnancy. “Fifteen weeks is on par with some places in Europe, but let states make that decision.”
“How about let the women make that decision? The hell with the states,” Whoopi Goldberg stated, breaking into the conversation. Why should women get to decide the fate of another living human being? That human being wouldn’t exist if they hadn’t chosen to have sex. And don’t bother bringing up the rape issue. The number of pregnancies due to rape is far less than those that come from consensual sexual relationships.
And this is the point where Haines comes into the conversation.
“Excuse me. When you throw it to the federal level though, it should apply to all states,” Haines butted in, going on to say that Graham’s legislation would ultimately still allow for individual states to make more restrictive laws. “He also cherry-picked the way it applies. He calls it a late term – late term abortion act. By the way, 15 weeks, for anyone that doesn’t know, is one week into your second trimester and just to clear up an often-referenced myth that is used to get a certain political outcome, there is no such thing as people having late-term abortions.”
Goldberg interrupted once again saying, “Say that again.”
“There is no such thing as people having late-term abortions,” Haines stated for a second time, to applause from the show’s in-studio audience.
However, Haines then contradicted her own statement by saying that almost 1.3 percent of abortion procedures were performed after 21 weeks, which would be considered “late term.”
Goldbert interjected for a third time saying, “Say that again.”
“That is only done for heartbreaking medical reasons. I have yet to see one situation where someone decides that,” Haines stated in conclusion. “That is being a myth being shopped around to get a certain political outcome. And 91% of all abortions are performed in the first trimester.”
Again, these people are clueless.
Abortion is murder. Plain and simple. It should be made illegal. And that’s what the pro-life movement is working toward on the state level, which is really where this fight needs to take place. Fight the good fight, ladies and gentlemen.
