When it comes to the topic of banning and outlawing abortion, a movement predominantly led by those of the Christian faith, liberals love to throw out the argument that Jesus in the Bible never talked about this particular issue, as if that justifies allowing the murder of the pre-born. It doesn’t by the way. We’ll get into that later.
For now, let’s talk about how MSNBC host Joe Scarborough stated on his program Friday morning — it’s the “Morning Joe” for those who want to torch themselves and watch it — that “Jesus never once talked about abortion,” while chatting about the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
According to Breitbart, Scarborough went on to say during the program, “And let me just say, as a Southern Baptist, I grew up reading the Bible, maybe a backsliding Baptist, but I still know the Bible. Jesus never once talked about abortion, never once, and it was happening back in ancient times. It was happening during his time. Never once mentioned it.”
*Slaps forehead*
What an idiot!
Does Jesus specifically mention the topic of abortion? No. But that’s because He didn’t need to. It seems that Scarborough doesn’t really know the Bible as well as he thinks he does. If he did, he would know that “you shall not murder” is one of the Ten Commandments. Now, I can already hear a bunch of different objections flying out of the mouths of the rabid progressives desperate to legally murder children in the womb, so slow your roll a little.
The first objection will no doubt be some blabbering about how we shouldn’t obey the God of the Old Testament because He was a blood thirsty, evil tyrant who made war constantly and killed people for not doing what He said. We should be “New Testament Christians” and follow the new God, Jesus, who is all about love, sunshine, rainbows, and puppies.
Bad news for you who cling to that erroneous belief. If Jesus is God, He’s part of the same Godhead of the Old Testament, as Hebrews 13:8 says that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. And Jesus Himself said that the moral law (Ten Commandments) are still active for today in Matthew 5:17 when He said he did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill. This means he fulfilled its requirements on our behalf, living a life we never could (perfect obedience to God) and paid the penalty the law required, again on our behalf, so that by faith, we could be saved.
So the law didn’t go away. There are countless passages talking about the Ten Commandments and their binding validity for daily living. Not to be saved by good works, but as an expression of our faith and love for Jesus.
The main conclusion we draw here is that Jesus is God, the same God of the Old Testament, and that the moral law, the Ten Commandments are still binding on the hearts and souls of men. One of those laws is “You shall not murder,” and abortion falls into the category of murder, thus, it should be abolished and criminalized.
Thank you for attending my TED talk.
Scarborough finished his discussion on this by saying, “For people perverting the gospel of Jesus Christ down to one issue, it’s heresy. If you don’t believe me if that makes you angry, why don’t you do something you haven’t done in a long time? Open the Bible, open the New Testament, read the red letters. You won’t see it there. And yet there are people who are using Jesus as a shield to make 10-year-old raped girls go through a living and breathing hell here on earth. They’ve also conveniently overlooked the parts of the New Testament when Jesus talks about taking care of the needy, taking care of those who are helpless, who live a hopeless life, because they believe, these state legislators believe that life begins at fertilization and ends at childbirth.”
The whole thing about taking care of the needy is another twisting of Scripture. Individuals, namely in the church, were given the task of helping the poor. Nowhere does Jesus command the government to get involved with this particular mission.
Perhaps, if Joe is going to claim to know the Bible, he should actually crack it open once in awhile.
