The leader of the Brothers of Italy political party, Giorgia Meloni, who won the most votes in the country’s national election, is, as of this writing, preparing to be the very first woman (biological female) premier in the nation’s history. This is a moment that you would think the progressive political elites in Europe would be applauding, right? You’d be wrong. Dead wrong. In fact, they’re actually rather unhappy about the whole thing.
Why is that, you ask? Well, it’s because she’s center-right politically speaking, having run on a platform that said, “We defend God, country, and family.” Meloni and the party she represents are against the insanity of gender ideology and the LGBT wackiness that is pervasive in modern culture, along with being in favor of strong borders and seeing limitless mass migration brought to a screeching halt.
Wow. Sounds a lot like a certain someone who used to be president here in the U.S., doesn’t it? No wonder Meloni is getting so much hate.
Here’s more from the folks over at Breitbart:
Meloni sounded a moderate, unifying tone in a victory speech that noted Italians had finally been able to clearly determine who they wanted to govern and the direction they wished to go in defiance of establishment elites.
“Italians have sent a clear message in favor of a right-wing government led by Brothers of Italy,” she told reporters in Rome, holding up a sign saying, “Thank you Italy.” All of which has sent much of Europe into a gasping, political tailspin.
The vice president of the European Parliament, Katharina Barley of the Social Democrats of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, cast Meloni’s victory as “worrying” given her affiliations with Hungary’s leader Viktor Orban and former U.S. President Donald Trump.
“Her electoral lip service to Europe cannot hide the fact that she represents a danger to constructive coexistence in Europe,” she was then quoted as saying by German daily WELT, the Associated Press reports.
“I am afraid of incompetence, not the fascist threat, ″ Roberto D’Alimonte, a political science professor at LUISS, a private university in Rome, went on to say. ”She has not governed anything.”
He failed to mention, conveniently, that Meloni actually served as youth minister in Berlusconi’s last government ten years ago. Funny how important facts always tend to slip the minds of leftists, isn’t it? It’s almost like they don’t really care about the truth.
Professor Gianluca Passarrelli, who works at Sapienza University in Rome, spoke with the BBC and stated that he hoped Meloni wouldn’t stir the pot too much concerning Europe and would focus her time and energy on other policies. He then stated that he’s concerned she might enact the promises that she was elected for, saying, “I think we will see more restrictions on civil rights and policies on LGBT and immigrants.”
Maybe so. And you know what? That would actually be a good thing. Societies do not thrive when the people that are in them participate in debauchery and immorality. Freedom, innovation, success, these all require a morally upright people. When the people become corrupt and consumed by their own greed and lusts, well, things tend to fall apart. This is a truth our own founding fathers preached often.
The professional hand wringers on the left, like the individuals who work for the German magazine Stern are hard at work trying to whip the masses all over Europe into a frenzy of fear by throwing a picture of Meloni on the front page with a banner that says, “The most dangerous woman in Europe.”
All because she believes the traditional family is worth protecting. Unbelievable. And, to be fair, I don’t think Germany, the same country that started two World Wars, really has any right to come out and refer to another nation’s leader as “dangerous” without legitimate evidence to prove that point.
“The Financial Times reports just last week E.U. commission chief Ursula von der Leyen put Rome in the same basket with Budapest and Warsaw as challengers to the overarching desire of the E.U. to govern all of Europe without exception or challenge to its own autocracy,” Breitbart reported.
“If things go in a difficult direction,” she went on to state after being asked about the elections in Italy, “I’ve spoken about Hungary and Poland, we have tools.”
The comment was a reference to the rule of law disputes and funding freezes experienced by both of those nations.
“The implied threat sparked outrage in Rome, particularly amongst the political right of center and online in the MIGA (‘Make Italy Great Again’) circles, where von der Leyen was accused of interfering in the election,” the report noted.
These threats aren’t having the intended effect that those making them thought they would. Meloni isn’t easily intimidated, something that her audience saw first-hand back in 2019 at the World Congress of Families:
With all of the hate brewing up against her, Meloni will need to have a spine of steel to endure the onslaught and not compromise her values.
Progressives In Europe Are Shook After Italy Makes Massive Move To The Right By Voting In New Premier
