Watch: Say What? Cardi B Sounds Off on Inflation

It’s truly a strange time to be alive. Don’t get me wrong, it’s better than the alternative, but weird, nonetheless. It’s looking more and more like the Trump presidency is the “good old days” we are all going to be referencing for the next few years. Between the sky-high price of gas, groceries, and energy, and the general malaise that our country is in now, we should all be longing for the “simpler’ days of mean tweets and economic prosperity, yet here we are!

Speaking of sky-high prices, have you seen rent lately? Holy Moses, it’s higher than a giraffe’s earlobe. That’s pretty high, kids. Who can afford this right now? With Bidenflation cutting into real wages, who can afford these inflated housing costs? I want to know, and so does Cardi B. For real?

The infamous rapper was recently helping a relative look for a place to live, and she was shocked by what she found. Hey, I said these were strange times! Check this out from the New York Post:

Cardi B is the latest to voice outrage over the decades-high inflation and surging rents that are hammering American households this year.

“There’s no motherf–king inventory when it comes to homes,” Cardi B said. “Nobody’s gonna try to sell their f—king homes.”

Eloquent and classy as always, Cardi B makes a valid point. Who IS going to sell their home right now? If you do sell and get an inflated asking price, you are just caught in the catch-22 of having to pay inflated prices for a new place. Same situation with the car market. I’d also be remiss if I didn’t admit I find it weirdly hilarious that Cardi B used the word “inventory” like a realtor. Maybe she will have a second career after the WAP money dries up.

“I was looking at some areas. The way that the prices soar up…like how are people surviving? I want to know. My family and my friends, they’re so grateful to have me, but it’s just like, what happens to people who don’t have a me?” the rapper said.

Cardi has noticed what so many other people have already, that it’s getting extremely difficult to find decent housing in a non shooty-stabby area without selling off the kids and dog to afford it. This imbalance is specific to this administration, but how does it get solved? We don’t all have a Cardi B as she so selflessly points out. That being said, I don’t want a Cardi B. I’ll take my chances on my own.

This isn’t the first time that Cardi B has commented on the economy. The chart-topping rapper backed President Biden ahead of the 2020 election.

“When y’all think they going to announce that we going into a recession?” Cardi B asked in June.

Well, I don’t know if Cardi B is going into a recession, but the rest of us folks are knee deep in it right now, whether Joe Biden wants to admit it or not.

Despite what you think about Cardi B and her unique talents, she is correct here. She also has a platform and a massive fanbase. By pointing out the failings of this administration, perhaps more people will be persuaded to open their eyes and see what’s going on around us.
