It’s very arguable that Lori Lightfoot of Chicago is America’s worst mayor. The Windy City has decayed into a dangerous, crumbling hellscape under Lightfoot’s watch. Crime, which used to be relegated to the South Side and other gang areas now infects even the Miracle Mile, the Loop, and the lakefront tourist areas. It simply isn’t safe to live or visit the majority of the city. It’s a shame since the city and lake are, or at least were beautiful, becoming the third largest city in America. Apparently, residents in the city, frustrated and afraid, are doing what the city leadership won’t; they are protecting themselves. For the third time in 11 days, a legally armed resident saved the day and possibly lives. This is a growing trend the city has seen over the summer. Check this out.
A concealed carrier shot two men Thursday night in an outdoor confrontation in Chicago and won’t be charged for pulling the trigger.
A couple was entering their vehicle in a parking lot outside a restaurant at the Chicago Ridge Mall around 8:20 p.m. when three men approached the couple.
The concealed carry permit holder shot multiple rounds at the three men, adding that two of the three men suffered non-threatening gunshot wounds.
Police believe the incident is related to an ongoing domestic disagreement.
This isn’t a crime that is taking place in the dark on the South Side. There are no more jewel heists and cat burglars. This is outside a mall at 8 o’clock in the evening. There simply is no place safe in Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago. The catch-and-release policies as well as being woefully understaffed with police after the rhetoric from Lightfoot to defund the police in 2020 have left the city vulnerable to the worst of our society. But residents have had enough and are taking the streets back little by little.
Patch said it was determined following an extensive investigation that the concealed carry holder who pulled the trigger won’t be charged.
The outlet added that all the people involved in the incident are adults, and no bond hearing had been set.
A legal conceal and carry holder is allowed to do just that and should never be charged in a situation like this. Thankfully in this case he wasn’t. Charging legal gun owners will do nothing but embolden criminals and discourage legal citizens from defending their property and their lives. More and more residents are taking matters into their own hands, legally.
Thursday’s shooting represented at least the third time in 11 days that a concealed carrier in the Windy City won the day in a threatening situation:
Early last Saturday morning a concealed carrier shot two, foiling a possible attempted car theft in the heart of city’s downtown Loop.
On Dec. 5, a 56-year-old man carrying a concealed gun fought back against a trio of armed teenage carjackers and turned the tables on them, shooting and seriously wounding two of the suspects, while the third broke a leg in a car crash.

Earlier in the year, there were also numerous instances of fed-up, legally carrying residents serving up street justice.
A 17-year-old carjacker died earlier in December after a woman carrying concealed shot him in the head during an attempted heist on the south side the day before Thanksgiving.
In September, gunmen opened fire at partygoers outside a Chicago home and shot a 13-year-old boy in the head, but the victim’s 21-year-old cousin — a concealed carry license holder — pulled out his gun and shot back, after which the gunmen fled.
Also in September, a concealed carry license holder shot an armed 13-year-old boy in Chicago as the boy allegedly was breaking into the concealed carrier’s car.
In July, a woman with a concealed carry license shot at a group of males who pointed a gun at her as they attempted to steal her car in Chicago — and a 13-year-old male who was with the would-be thieves was shot.
Chicago’s citizens shouldn’t have to shoot criminals. The trauma these folks undergo will last a lifetime, and there is always the risk of innocent people being hurt as collateral damage. Unfortunately, people have to do what they can to protect themselves, and in Lori Lightfoot’s crumbling Chicago, that means firing weapons and worrying about the fallout later. When will this change? Hopefully when people wake up and vote to remove the failed city leadership that has fostered this situation.
