So it seems the folks over at CNN are so desperate to try and rehabilitate the image of the network and somehow lure people into watching their craptastic programming they are attempting to rip a page right out of Fox News’ playbook and hire some sort of comedian in order to fill the 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. time slot.
Fox News has Greg Gutfeld and his nighttime program which is slaughtering all of the major networks late shows, so CNN figures they need to copy this strategy with a raging left-wing funnyman — which is like looking for a unicorn — in order to look edgy, hip, and on point with today’s modern audiences.
These people are so clueless.
According to Breitbart, “Chris Cuomo, who once hosted the 9 p.m. hour, was fired for a litany of offenses more than a year ago, and CNN is in such bad shape the slot still doesn’t have a permanent replacement. But this is what happens when your bullpen is full of unappealing liars like Jim Acosta, Don Lemon, and Jake Tapper.”
An insider with CNN said that the network is “looking for their version of John Oliver.” Wow. That’s a pathetically low-bar. I mean, I thought they were looking for someone funny? When’s the last time Oliver said something that remotely tickles the funny bone? Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever laughed at anything he’s said. Pretty poor comedian.
“The ‘news entertainment’ personality could fill the primetime 9 to 11 p.m. hours with a nontraditional version of the news, five people familiar with the planning said. CNN executives have floated names including Bill Maher, Trevor Noah, Arsenio Hall, and Jon Stewart, and have looked at other comedic news-focused talk shows for inspiration,” the insider said, according to Breitbart News.
The insider continued, “CNN president Chris Licht hinted at his desire to sign Stewart in an interview last year with the New York Times, saying he’d love to bring on the former late night host, but Stewart remains under contract with Apple.”
John Nolte of Breitbart does not think the search for a comedian has anything to do with ratings. Why? Because if this were really about ratings, why would they be looking for someone like John Oliver, when Oliver brings in far fewer viewers than even CNN does? This is a good point.

“Bill Maher’s ratings are not much better,” Nolted pointed out. “Trevor Noah and Jon Stewart’s numbers were/are so low; I doubt they’ve been able to attract their extended families. Apparently, because he is already in the same corporate family, Bill Maher is the favorite. Really? The same vaccine skeptic, anti-woke Bill Maher, currently giving leftists fits, is the frontrunner?”
Yes, it seems like a pretty big possibility that this move has more to do with locating a company man who will follow their prescribed talking points and spread the progressive ideology through the use of what they think is “comedy.”
If the new leadership wants to help make CNN look more objective, this is certainly not the way to go about it. Finding someone who will be neutral in their comedic work and go after everyone, regardless of party affiliation is the way to go. This draws in viewers from both sides. Though to get the conservative viewers, this individual is going to have to be one heck of a comedian.
